Yao: this Rox can't beat the Spurs. Harden is not there yet.

This CN-TV show was called "Primetime NBA".

When being asked about his opinion on the Rockets' performances in the PO....

Yao pointed out that even thou the Rockets pass over the Blazers, they would still lose to the Spurs in the 2nd rd. "Look at the roster and starting line-up..." Yao said, "...Harden, Howard, Parsons are 3 primary scorers. Beverley and Jeremy Lin is one way or the other. One is more of a defensive player and the other is more of a facilitator. Among the starters, you just can't find anybody who can get everybody involved. Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much."

When being asked how he feel abt the controversial figure, Coach McHale...

Yao said "I am not feeling convenient to reveal it." He then added "I have never been working as a coach. But I think, as a coach, your determination is very important. Not all of your decisions would have always been right. But even some of them might be wrong, you must execute it without self-doubts. Just like what Fei Wang(former Chinese national team HC) said 'Even If five guys are running towards the same wrong direction, they may still reach the goal.' "

BTW,
Yao said da Heat will beat the Pacers in 6. That said, he thinks Roy Hibbert will show up again.

Yao said mid-range game is the only flaw in LeBron's offensive game.

He said LBJ still got some room to improve on that part.

He said it's really really hard for SB to change Westbrook/Durant's style of the game right now cuz Scott stepped in too late. He thinks the OKC will be eliminated.

He said he is a big fan of this Spurs. He likes their game style. He hopes they can win it all.

He also said ShaQ is way better than him. Even in his prime time... he would get beat by ShaQ.

everyone who love basketball should love spurs
they are sharing the ball offense
they are all playing defense
everyone is ready to rotate and switch on defense
when you are late on defense rotation you get yell at by popovich
if you don't play well you get bench
yes we see popovich bench duncan too

I think that's pretty obvious for people who watched Shaq in his prime.

I don't think it matters who buys the Clippers they are going to smash us LOL. Owned us this season. They are just a better team period. Their frontline is so athletic.

Can't disagree with anything. What a pity OKC had to trade Harden, THAT, was a good team. (of course, it's very good for us)

How much weight has he gained since 2002? Must be at least 100 lbs. I hope his heart is OK.

I think Yao was being modest, he was an incredible shooter, soft touches, great post up moves. Shaq could not defend him. Nobody could stop Yao unless they got under him, which was probably how he ended up getting injured.

Shaq would admit that Yao was a FAR BETTER shooter than he could ever be....much better.

Yao will probably go down as one of the best shooting big men in history, all things considered. He wasn't being modest though. Shaq was the most dominating player on the court every game in his prime.

And yeah the first thing I noticed watching the interview was that it does look like he gained a lot of weight. I always wondered how much of the bulking up Yao did in his career was due to his body growing out and how much was the coaching staff telling him to bulk up. I always thought his agility at his size with his smaller frame when he first came into the league was going to be a big strength of his. And if he stayed a bit leaner maybe his career would've lasted a bit longer.

Shaq was the modern day Wilt Chamberlain, tall strong and mobile for a big man but couldn't shoot. He basically pushed/bullied/"ego-ed" his way into the game, I don't know if that's the mark of a great player though. At least Wilt has done a few things that could possibly never be achieved again in basketball. Shaq also wasn't always dominate. He got showed up by Ewing and Hakeem a lot. David Robinson was more impressive in my opinion.

Yao was a 6'7" power forward in a 7'6" body with a pure shooting style. There is nobody in history like that, though Sabonis was another shooting center who could have dominated if it wasn't for injuries. When the NBA game changed, it was no longer about the skillful center with the deft shooting touch or hook, it became a battle of positioning, this took its toll on every single 7 footers.
