I don't get why some people are still hesitating on this. You'll get the best offensive big man in the NBA and only 25 years old. Make no mistake: Love in the east makes you a perennial playoff team. There will be plenty of time to surround him with other guys and probably at least one other superstar.

Don't look at our roster and say Love isn't enough. Look at what our roster can become having a top 10 player (to me it's top 5 and I've been saying that for a long time) with owners more than willing to spend, a gm that has already proven he can turn things around suddenly and a coach who had to have his team gutted of scrubs to actually start losing heavily.

As for our sources: in case I wasn't specific enough, anyone can spot the insiders on this board. When one of them states something the thread will grow to 10+ pages overnight. I still remember when the KG trade was discussed here back in 07 and reactions on the GB were pretty much the same. I actually broke the news to a guy on the beat here in Portugal and he didn't believe me at first.

So, start rubbing your Portuguese cocks (yes they come from a city here called Barcelos and are considered a good luck charm) because this thing may actually happen.

Hey guys I stand corrected... I admit that I come here very rarely. I specifically remember a poster named CelticsThug who would just make up random sources. He created a dumb blog and twitter account and had gullible people eating it up.

If since then, actual folks with legitimate "sources" have joined the forum, that's pretty cool.

OMG I remember that jerk. I'm embarrassed to say that I was eating out of the palm of his hand. he was so dang believable. Still kicking myself for that one. I know DDB and LBF are legit around here. I don't know of any others, but those two have checked out for sure.

I guess we'll see how it goes.....

I'm legitimately concerned about your well-being, should we land both Love and Melo, tlee. Not sure if it'll be death by Zakim or flat out cardiac arrest, but you should probably start preparing for the "worst." :)

lol, my concerns are strictly on wanting to see the Celtics in the hunt legitimately for a championship, and I just haven't seen Anthony or Love as profitable investments for anyone yet in that regard. I don't ”hate” either guy. I just don't think they are worth the money they'll expect, and we won't see a valuable return in the investment. I'd love to be wrong here, but I don't think I will be if this all goes down.

What I do know...People on this board definitely have sources. LBF, CAP, DDB, BFB to name a few). I don't post often, but I've been following daily since long before the KG days and there is no way that these guys aren't legit. Now for every one of the guys mentioned above, there are 3 or 4 Celtics Thugs. The enjoyment I have gotten over the years is seeing the reaction that the great posters (with sources or without) have to the fake insiders. It's gold.

What else I do know...Red Sox nation better get on their effing feet and pull off the warmest welcome in New England sports history. Standing O for 3-5 minutes or bust.

Larry Luccino and Johnny boy better roll out the effin pomp and circumstance for love, or else.

Funny, I got an email yesterday saying Celtics season tickets are now available, on the same day Love is in town.

Glad I'm not in Boston. Would definitely have eaten at that steakhouse and in general roamed the city in hopes of running into him/courting him. Probably would have ended up scaring him away haha.

Sox crowd best show love Love.

Back in the day when this place really got going, even before the Celtic Thug Era, we had Jamaal Parker with multiple pseudonyms with wild assed trades that make less sense than even what CT put together.

I'm not around here as much as I used to be, but pop in here and there there is rarely the same hysteria here that plagues other well known Celtics boards. It's good to see so many of the regulars back in the pre-Ainge era still kicking around. Though RitalinReggie... where are you?

Age 25 seasons for Love and Amar'e Stoudemire are quite similar-- offensive prowess and defensive weakness. Ray Allen is similar to Love, in the same way. You have to really nail the fix you come up with to balance out Love's weakness. If we had a guy like what Embiid is projected to be, it would be an amazing team we could construct. Those aren't the cards we were dealt. Those Bucks and Sonics teams Ray was on never accomplished much. Stoudemire almost lead the Suns to the NBA Finals (once), after having swept the Spurs, so success is possible with a guy like Love on your team. It's just a lot harder when you have such an incomplete player on the court all game long. Previous to that season, the Suns failed early in the playoffs.

I had the same exact thought, but thought it was too lame to post here. The subject line was "Be There | Season Tickets On Sale Now" I half expected to open it up and see a photoshopped picture of Kevin Love in a Cs jersey, with Rondo beside him. It's exactly the headline they would use in an email once Love was in the fold. I wonder if they sent it out early!

Guy is coming here. He wouldn't come to Boston for fun. Not a week after Memorial Day. He is here on business, and yes, to get a feel of the town.

FOR WHAT?

Love's from the West Coast. He wants to see a Red Sox game?

Great post. I think you are being somewhat unfair to Ray Allen but do a good job of highlighting the importance of having bigs that play defense. Milwaukee usually had some scoring talent on the perimeter besides RA but their bigs were usually pretty mediocre and pretty much gave RA little chance to win. Ray Allen granted it was just 1 year came 1 game away from the NBA finals and he really performed amazingly well in that 7 game series loss vs Philly. Iverson was horribly inefficient chucker that series but his teammates and especially Mutombo carried him to the Finals. As much as I think PP was underrated, I actually think RA was even more underrated nationally since he played in Milwaukee and Seattle which are teams easy to forget about most years. RA for all of his faults deserves to have 50 rings before Iverson got 1.

I do think Kevin Love is a better bet then Amare and may be the better real world defender but I absolutely get where you are coming from. I share the same concerns especially because the best player in the game(Lebron) is arguably the best player in the history of the game at driving to the basket. Young Jordan was better at driving to the basket to score then Lebron but Lebron just sees the floor much better on his drives and is capable of getting players wide open corner 3's like it is nothing if a team is forced to overplay his drives too much.

I also think RA's defensive ability -- not always performance -- earlier in his career was significantly underrated.
Ray Allen may not have been a threat to block shots or get lots of steals but he could play good to very good man on man defense against pretty much any SG when he wanted.

I can't say the same for Kevin Love who I do think is a better overall defender then Amare.

Danny Ainge has a job and his job is to make the Celtics the best team possible. Around the league right now there aren't any available players that can impact a game both offensively and defensively the way Garnett could back in 07. That player isn't available right now. But Kevin Love is available, and he can impact a game even more so then Garnett ever could on the offensive side of the ball. So if Ainge can acquire Love without selling the farm then he needs to finalize that deal (draft night set in principal) and the move on to his next move.

I don't find it very complicated. If the deal is reasonable...I would not give 4 number 1 picks for Love...you do it. There is no other way to acquire a top 10ish player unless you hit jackpot in the draft. Rank em how you want. Spurs are in two finals in row without the ultra superstar formula. Of course HOF players and a top 3 coach in history don't hurt. I don't see Anthony Davis and Durant walking through that door...so basically that's your only option. Your going to have to go through Lebron regardless because whether it's in Miami or somewhere else he's picking a stacked team.

To be fair, that was just a rumor. Who knows if he is actually at the Sox game.
