Boston have the best deal by a mile. No clue why he would want to go there. He isn't winning anything as a Celtic and would still have no wing scoring help, especially at the PG position.

You don't think Love and Rondo is a playoff team in the East?
If they dump Wallace or stretch provision him they should have close to max cap space the following year.

It's a 6th seed if I've ever seen one.
45-37.

In year 1. And then they add picks and another scorer or star via FA. Its not a finished product but I'd rather be on a solid playoff team in the East then go through the WC juggernaut.
Rondo is a pretty good running mate, he is a walking triple double and will compliment love in the pick and roll/pop.

I'm not sure if Gibson, Butler and Nikola beat those offers. I'd say we'd need to include picks as well.
It seems like it would cost a lot less to land Melo.
I doubt we nab either.
The Celtics recently hosted Love and can offer Green, #6 and future picks.
There's a lot of teams who can offer Minny a better deal. Nikola, Gibson, Butler, 16 and 19. That would be the deal if we were to get it done. We'd also need to take one of their longer contracts on like Brewer, Martin or Chase.
We'd have Rose, Love and Noah starting for sure with Snell, Dunleavy, Smith, the player we take from Minny, the MLE and BPE to fill out the team. Landing Pierce on the MLE and our 3rd big on the BPE with Kirk on the Veteran minimum.
G-Rose/Kirk
G-Minny player/Snell
F-Pierce/Dunleavy
F-Love/BPE
C-Noah/Smith
That is a pretty damn good team. We'd have our 2015 and the Kings pick to deepen the team going forward

Wade and LeBron will have a field day offensively.

You still need a 1st option and a 3rd option, which neither of them are.
Love is the ultimate 2nd guy, and Rondo is your Noah type on offense.
If I am Love, I'd be pushing to join Curry in a Golden State and pick and pop all day long.

Our management won't empty the farm though. They wouldn't do it for KG. Why would they do it for a worse Love?
Thibs would have a heart attack if you took away Deng last year and traded away Gibson and Butler.

Love is the 4th leading scorer in the league. He would be the first option. Rondo would be a good 3rd option and they can sign a 2nd option with the near cap space they have the following year.
GS is a good option too but I don't think they give up Thompson and Barnes. And I don't think Minny would want Lee, Barnes and no picks. I would hold out for more.

I see him ending up in Golden State and the Bulls being part of the deal getting Barnes and sending Butler and 19 to Minny with Klay and Lee.

Butler and 19 for Barnes

We got to get more out of that than Barnes though? Thats basically us helping GS get Love.

I really don't care how many points Kevin Love scores. His game is not conducive of someone who can lead a team as a 1st option to a title. He is the perfect foil to a lead guard with his jump shooting game.
If he is your 1st option, you will be a 2nd round team at best.
Rajon Rondo is not a 3rd option. No chance. Not offensively with his own scores. He may be the team's 3rd best player, but he isn't a 3rd option offensively for his own score, just like Noah.
That team would still be 2 seasons away from any real contention, and perhaps longer if they strike out in free agency.

I wouldn't deal Butler straight up for Barnes let alone throwing in 19.

If he's leaving Minnesota because he's trying to win, why would he extend with a team that weakens themselves before he gets there? You would think he learned from Carmelo how stupid that is.
I followed his statements kind of closely during that period and Carmelo clearly never had any interest in having a strong team around him. He only wanted to sign a max extension (and not the maximum amount he would sign as an unrestricted FA, which was considerably smaller), which is why he pushed for his trade to NY (or else he would sign an extension with Denver).
So, no, I do not think what happened there was an outcome of Carmelo's stupidity, he was just after the money.
Whether the intentions were different or not the outcome will be the same. I don't think Love and his people are that stupid. He's either going to get traded as a 1 year rental or he'll stick it out and become a FA. Heck I doubt a smart GM like Ainge would even consider trading anything significant for him

Your too picky with your first options. There are only 3-4 guys who fit your definition and can lead a team to a championship as a #1 option. Love is an acceptable 1st option.
I also think Rondo can be a 3rd option. What he lacks in scoring he more than makes up in creation. A 3rd option is traditional around 15ppg. Rondo at 12 and 10 can be that.

Love is a 1st option in the same way that KG was.
He doesn't have the ability to be the main scoring option on a title team like Dirk or Duncan were.
Sure, he can be your 1st option if you like, but if he is, don't have any expectations of winning anything. That is my point.

I don't think Love, who has never even been in the playoffs has the same championship or bust criteria that you do. Looking at his list, it looks like his primary concern is a larger market and not winning. I'm sure its a point of consideration but its not a priority otherwise LA and NY wouldn't be on the list.
And he's better offensively than KG. But you're right hes not Dirk. But he is 25 and can still develop.

Love is a great number 2
