You know?

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if he waited a year to sign with us....That would allow his supporting cast the chance to mature for another year....

But I dunno? Theres always that chance that injury could foil the works?

Just hope for good luck I guess?

And if it's meant to happen, It will!

It's like a free agent visitation, except Minnesota's got him signed and they get to choose where to trade him. Is this Love and his agent trying to steer the direction of the trade?

It's so over the top and unprecedented that it makes me feel uneasy. I just worry that Flip and their owner Taylor don't get put off by this and take the Kings offer or something like that to spite us and Kevin. Love can put out all the vibes in the world that he hates anywhere else, but teams will think a year in their colors and the extra $ can sway anyone.

I guess it depends on what he does next honestly..

He wouldnt have to visit L.A. obviously, but if he took off to the Bay Area or to some other team's city that has interest then it could just be him doing due dilligence before committing to any team

However, joining the dots it really seems like his agent has seen who is likely to have the best package and sees it as a better basketball situation for his client. Go check out the city before we get to draft night because the Celtics could well be the highest bidder.

Hard not to get ahead of yourself, but really does seem to be coming together

Seriously, how good is DA if he manages to turn this team around from PP/KG/Rondo to Love/Rondo and more within a single season

That might also mean he dosen't resign there....but instead he sign's with us...We get to keep our assets that way....really its a win win situation.....

The Wolves will take their "best" Boston deal on Kevin's urging.... They would be foolish not to....

These other teams wouldn't be foolish enough to cut themselves short...

Hey I don't like free agentcy....but it would be nice to benefit from it for a change...Would it not?

It sounds like he gets extended as part of a sign and trade sort of deal...don't you think?

The "Dwightmare" just ended last season with Lakers. I don't think there are too many teams willing to take a chance...

Speaking of which, when's the first day that trading can re-commence? Some time after the Finals are over?

I'm sure you can agree to principle on any deal right after Finals end. If anything, I know draft day is a day when deals can at least be agreed upon.

Deals can be done whenever after the season has finished for the teams involved in the trade. Therefore, the teams may have talked already and do anything even now.

This thing looks like it is more than just teams talked. I would go so far as to suggest that the deal is agreed and now it is up to Love deciding if he will resign if Boston is of his liking. It is looking positive.

Dreamcast wrote:Guys, what are the chances this doesn't fall through ? I want to believe we will get Love but deep down I know it wont happen and many fans will be disappointed.

Its obvious he is here for basketball reasons. Wyc mentioned there will be "Fireworks". It all makes sense. But from what Flip is saying is pretty much calling us fans delusional. According to him Love is 100% staying.

People who are not sure about Love. Well anytime you can get 26ppg and 12rbg consistently you go after that guy at all costs.

With Rondo and Love and hopefully a strong Center Celtics can easily be top 3 team in the east.

Flip is just saying what needs to be said. It looks like MN must still be negotiating with teams. Most likely means he is gone on draft day since around that time gives MN the most leverage.

MN is crazy to think that Love won't walk out the door after another losing season... It puts tremendous pressure on the Wolves to really improve next year and they aren't in great position to do so.

Simple math - it HAS to go down before the draft. MIN is going to want to control who is selected. This is all posturing to get final bids in - MIN just "put missles in Turkey" - they signaled an escalation with this weekend's fun.

I absolutely 100% agree that MN will want to pick their own player and not leave it up to a rival gm and that is what I meant by the draft....but it could be literally minutes before the 6th pick since some trades have gone down like that. I just think the Wolves have to be down to their final 2 teams or so by like minutes before pick 6 or even 1(in the unlikely event Cleveland decides to deal) and as long as they have worked out the picks or feel confident in their evaluations, they can try to make teams sweat to potentially gain more leverage. MN pretty much knows teams are unlikely to lower their offers until after the draft.

It could even be in theory a tentative deal in which they take a Celtics offer if player X is still on the board but go with another team's offer like Sacramento if that player is gone. I don't think this will be the case but its not completely farfetched.

We may never know for sure but I'll be damn curious about what the other teams are bidding for Kevin Love. If Lebron loses to SA, does that make him much more willing to go back to Cleveland since a 4 peat will be out of the question? Love's lack of post defense becomes less of a concern playing with Lebron since Lebron is really the only slasher in the game today that completely destroys defenses with his finishing and passing. Love and Lebron pairing makes lots of sense but tough to say if even Lebron is enough of a lure to bring Love to Cleveland.
