I think Melo is more of a possibility than Love. Melo is in the stage of career where he wants a smart team and win. Love wants celebrity status.

I wish MJ and Cho would persuade Melo hard with the promise of spending for top talent.

So, in this fantasy scenario.....

Trade 9, 24, Henderson, Neal for Chandler Parsons and Jeremy Lin (Houston uses the pick to trade for Love with extension)

Trade Brendan Haywood and 45 to PHI for 2015 top 58 protected 2nd

Sign Carmelo Anthony 4 years 80 million (last year being opt-in) (whatever the max is)
Sign CDR 2 years 2.5 million
Sign CJ Miles 1 year 1.2 million
Sign Jeff Adrien 2 years 1.9 million
Sign Devin Harris 1 year 1.1 million
Fill out with vet min and UDFA's

PG: Kemba/Lin/Harris
WINGS: Parsons/MKG/CDR/Taylor/Miles
PF: Melo/Zeller/Adrien
C: Al/Biyombo/Zeller

A little thin, but keeps Zeller, MKG, Biyombo here as I think they would be great roleplayers and I would like to see what they do in this system. Lin would expire but we'd have to resign Parsons and Kemba and make a decision on Biyombo

My ideal/realistic hornets lineup:

PG- Kemba/ Payton/ LaVine
SG- AA/ LaVine/ Neal
SF- MKG/ FA Shoooter/ Taylor
PF- Zeller/ Humphries or Someone better in FA
C - Big Al/ Biyombo/ FA Center Undrafted center

We get 2 upside prospects of the future while being able to compete now and not ruining team chemistry too much. Plus both prospects will get enough minutes to develop as back ups (for now).
A strong lineup in imo.

If we end up with Zeller or Hump as our starting 4 were screwed.

I'd say the both are downgrades pretty clearly. If we're gonna sign Hump we might as well bring back McBob.

Mcroberts was the glue to the team last year, you cant undervalue a high basketball IQ.

you know what im sayin though hes probably the best passing PF and is a smart player. I would have liked to see us lock him up for a few years thats why I was boggled with the Zeller pick last year (along with many other reasons)

Kemba/Sessions/Pargo
Stauskas/Hendo/Neal/Taylor
Deng/MKG/Taylor/CDR
Zeller/Payne/MKG
Al/Biz/Haywood

Full 15 with some wishful thinking.

if you view MKG as nothing better than the 3rd string pf, wouldnt you rather trade him this summer for an asset? seems that his value would be higher this summer than a year or more from now after being relegated to the end of the bench.

MKG is not a PF. and throwing starter money at deng would not be smart

That was actually a mistake. I did some rearranging/changed my mind and things got mixed up. I have no desire to trade MKG, especially after seeing how much his jumper is improving this summer.

I know I just said it, but it was a mistake to not put MKG in the SF position, but I'm keeping him on there as a PF as well, because he can defend the position with his length, and it certainly is conceivable to move him to PF while another wing is at SF. He has the length and athleticism to guard most PFs.

Why would paying Deng not be a smart idea? He's younger than LeBron, Melo, and Al. He was having one of the best seasons of his career before he got thrown into the fiery hell that was the 2013-14 Cleveland Cavaliers.

Deng is the type of player MKG can become. It'd be great to have him as a third/fourth scoring option for MKG to study and learn from. He'd be a good veteran leader with a lot of playoff experience. He's a very good defender, and he can help MKG out in that regard by teaching him how to defend without fouling. And most importantly, he'd contribute. Probably somewhere around 16 PPG/6.5RPG/3 APG. There are conceivable line-ups that Clifford could use that would have Deng and MKG on the floor at the same time.

Aside from Bosh (or LBJ and Melo), I think Deng fits the bill here perfectly.

Sorry if you don't agree with humphries in my roster. That's why I added "someone better". The thing about mcbob is I think he is taking away a lot of mins from zeller and i don't think he wants to be a back up.

But he is the far better player. If we don't bring back. McRoberts we need to find a starter rather than take such a huge step backwards. His mind for the game made a huge difference this season. I am fine going another route but Zeller is not ready to start so we would need to bring in a starter.

In all honesty, we need someone to take a lot of minutes away from Zeller. He's not even a great backup at this point. I know there is potential and hopefully he shows improvement next year, but if we are counting on him to start or play major minutes then we're in trouble.

Indeed there need to be some added insurance, another word for depth, at backup PF in case Cody Zeller doesn't progress over this offseason and come into next season playing at the dismal level that he played last season, because I doubt they'd make the playoffs with him getting a consistent 20 minutes with that subpar performance next year. I expect the Eastern Conference to be marginally stronger next season
