A team like the Raptors should do will with a mid/ late 1st rounder & two 2nd rounders. I've been impressed with some of the players that some mocks feel will go in the 2nd round. Can't recall this many quality bigs going in the 2nd round before. Even some of the players potentially available at 20 would have gone top 10-15 in some recent drafts.

imo it's both, though I guess I'm higher on Embiid and Wiggins than most.

Can you give a summary when the game is over?

Sure. It's over now. Porzingis' team was eliminated in a pretty close game. Not sure what his boxscore stats were, but I'd imagine something like 8/5 in about 20 mins.

The good:
-two big putbacks. One one-handed while getting shoved.
-finished an alley-oop on the fast break.
-took a hard foul to make a play at the rim, drained both FTs (form looks excellent, so it's surprising to see he shoots such a low %.)
-Active and vocal on D, frequently calling out assignments.
-Changed quite a few shots in the paint.
-Was able to cut off penetration without his man getting the dump off a couple of times.

The bad:
-Defensive rebounding. Had bad instincts. Wasn't always aware when the shot went up or where his man was. Was rarely in the mix.
-Soft double team on the perimeter late in the game was easily split, caused him to reach in and sent the guy to the line.
-Lazy fouls. Tried to pry away a rebound from a guy with one arm while the other guy had it secured. I think he ended up fouling out of this game as well.
-Blew a bunny in the 4th quarter.
-Took a hopeless fadeaway J with time on the clock.
-Had the ball stripped under the bucket.

Overall wasn't the most physical game, so it was hard to determine if that soft label was really appropriate. I never saw him shy from contact in this game, but he wasn't exactly carving out space for himself. He wasn't posted up at all, either.

Would you be mad if MU picked him at #20? I've only seen the DX stuff. I like that he's 18, helps to excuse his lack of physicality.

Kyle Anderson will still be my boy at 20.

I'm not interested in playing Vasquez at the two full time so it doesn't make sense to draft and sign two pgs in one offseason
I like ennis, if you wanna draft him, go ahead and use Vasquez as trade bait or just move on.

I'll take one of the European bigs who could be available at 20 but I'd stay away from Payne with Amir and Patterson on board.

So it's

Stauskas
Kyle Anderson
Porzingis
TJ Warren

I wouldn't be mad, but there are guys I think would have similar upside with less risk in that range. I wouldn't even consider bringing him over next year, though.

Looks like we've only worked/will work out two players that could fall to our range (20). Until they release more info on who's coming.

Tyler Ennis and Kyle Anderson...I believe the Raptors also interviewed both at the combine as well. So looks like Masai has definite interest in both. Let's see who else comes in!

Nurkic actually has some good lateral quicks and a solid jumper, so I don't think it would be that crazy to think that he could play some Power Forward as well - ala Demarcus Cousins and Al Jefferson. Obviously it might not work out long term, but my point is that it wouldn't be too hard to envision him having the oppurtunity to play 18-25 mpg early on with the roster so if Masai sees him as BPA, he should take him without a doubt.

I'm surprised... it's been very quiet in terms of prospects that are actually slotted to be around the #20 spot. A lot of second rounders coming in.

Then again, Masai did say his work with #20 is basically done, so I'll assume he knows pretty much everything about every prospect in that range, and has already ranked them. He did talk about work needing to be done for the #37 pick to find a gem. I still hope we get a look at guys like Payne/McDaniels in a workout setting. I just hope he has some interest in Payne and doesn't just throw him out the window before getting a really good look at him.

Screw it I'm back on the Kyle Anderson bandwagon. He's an extremely poor man's Jabari who's my favorite player from this draft class.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

For what its worth (next to nothing) when I corresponded with Masai in late march, I mentioned our need for playmaking on the wings and how Kyle Anderson would be a great fit. He agreed with me on the need for playmaking on the wings and emphasized its importance. He didn't address suggestion about Kyle but he didn't shoot it down. In my books that equates to

But for real its obviously nothing.

I see you concern, but Lowry/Vasquez/Ennis could be the best PG rotation in the NBA. Vasquez is 6'6" so he can easily play the 2 spot. In today's NBA, where there's guys like Monte Ellis are starting SG's, it really wouldn't be an issue having him as a backup 2 that's a playmaker. The 2 spot isn't exactly a position of strength in the NBA today, so it's not as big of an issue as you think.

I'd love to grab Ennis if he drops (which it sounds like Masai would easily do), and bringing back GV shouldn't play into any decision. Ennis would be BPA if he's at 20.
