depth
defensive minded PF that can protect the rim
starting PG with advanced passing ability
defensive versatil wing

best fits for that roles,

John Henson
Rajon Rondo
Thabo Sefolosha

It's bad that they are not really obtainable.

Not a bad idea, but he's declining fast and also has missed a lot of games the past few seasons. I also think Kobe is probably pushing the Lakers front office to resign him, and if they don't, Pau would probably want to sign with a competitive team.

Pau's defense last year was laughable. I think he's in that stage of his career where he's ready to coast. Probably not a good player to go after for that reason.

Pau always misses a handful of games. If i remember correctly, he only had at least 80 games about 2 times (out of 7) as a Laker. You're right though as far as Pau declining but he still averaged close to a double-double this year.
And for his defense, well, it wasn't the best to begin with.

With his passing ability and his ability to spread the floor, I believe it will be really effective alongside DMC, just as how effective Divac was with Webber.

With that being said, the possibility of him signing with us is probably close to none. Discussing him is almost just food for thought. I just thought a player with his skill-set at the PF would've been perfect for us.

I think Pau's a strong defender if involved in a program with a strong focus on team defense. D'Antoni's never been known to instill a concept of team defense on any of his teams.

The biggest problem with Pau is that he's too old (33) and moreover I doubt he wants to finish his career with a non-contender. Doesn't make sense for either side.

Only way Pau agrees to come to Sacramento is if
a) No one else offers him a contract at all and we are the only offer
b) No contender offers him a contract, and we offer $3-4 million more than LAL
c) Contenders offer him the full MLE, and we beat that by $5-6 million/year

He has absolutely no ties to Sacramento, so our only way of obtaining him is simply to outspend everyone to the point where he can't turn down the money. Not a good decision in my mind.

Pau has never been a strong defender. Not on his best day.
