At # 10 how could you pick a 6'2" Gary Harris who will have average nba skills?

You take a big there and pick up a Nick Johnson ,Wilcox or Bogdanovic later on. Or you take Stauskas at #10.

Zero value with Gary Harris at the #10pick.

Skates wrote:Harris looks more like a nice, solid third guard type, not an NBA starter. 20-25 years ago his size might have been fine as a starting SG, but he is definitely undersized today. I like him in the role player/rotation guy part of the draft after 15-17. I think he will be a decent player, but not a long time starter on a winner.

Yeah, I don't really like any of the guards after Smart at 10. Lavine is a big gamble, but could consider him for the upside. Young and Hood I am not liking at the moment. I like Harris and Stauskas but not at 10. Plan to research Stauskas more.

The best value would be a trade into the top 7 if we have the assets.

The Sixers turn at #39 in the Mock draft, I didn't want to step on anyone's toes since I'm a rook, I was thinking Jerami Grant, but he was taken at 38 for Detroit. Why not Isiah Austin,? I know the dude has one eye but he's 7ft and can shoot a little bit, he played well against Embiid when Baylor played Kansas. It's not like we got Embiid in the mock and we probably won't get him anyway.

We're on the clock again over at the Draft forum. I don't want to hog all the fun.

Anyone else see Sixers are doing a private workout with P.J. Hairston? Didn't know if it was posted elsewhere or not. I would be happy getting him with a trade-up in the 18-23 range.

Wanted Jerami Grant, but he was taken, is that way to early for Austin?

I'd consider Russ Smith. Guy could score the ball.

I was hoping for Smith at the next pick but the way that draft has gone I'm surprised he wasn't taken at the end of the 1st round.

I think Russ or Austin are both great pickups at 39.

Preach Brotha. Taking Garry Harris at #10, when guys like Nick Johnson and Markel Brown will probably be available at #32 and #39 is such a waste.
I really can not see the reasoning why Garry Harris is projected to go 30 picks higher than those guys. I always assumed it was due to Harris being 'listed' at 6'5 and them being listed at 6'3. Now that they've had the combine and we now know those guys are virtually the same size, there is no way I take Harris that far ahead of them.

I picked Micic with the 38th pick. I like Russ Smith too but I figured with three 2nd round picks remaining, we might still get Russ a few picks later. I took Micic cause he's young and stashable.

Serious question though, if Austin has two eyes does he go earlier? He can play a little bit and he's 7ft.

Probably. I think he still does go earlier than many of these mocks suggest. All you need is one team to fall in love with a highly skilled 7fter for him to go in the first round.

But if he had 2 eyes, I think he would have played much better too. All of the acclimation in the world cannot substitute the depth perception and peripheral vision that comes with two eyes. It's a shame that happened to him.

I dunno, he was just very underwhelming and not very impactful at Baylor. It's hard to tell how much of that is because of his disability.

Compare Austin to Jokic. I like Jokic much more.

Admittedly without having watched Jokic play, Austin is underrated as a prospect. His defensive impact and shooting potential make him a good bet to be a backup center in the league. He is who I want in the second round

This. I see mocks with this guy being drafted behind Walter Tavares. That is a joke. Tavares runs and moves like Calvin Booth. If you just watched video of these players and didn't know the rankings, you would think someone was crazy if they told you Taveras was a better prospect than Austin.

Gary Harris isn't top 20 on my big board. Austin is top 25.

The foreigners as a whole are a real weakness to me, not that they're weak, I'm weak in not only seeing them, but judging their talent because IMHO I consider the NCAA better than any of the foreign leagues. But that's me and I don't consider myself a genius when it comes to judging talent. That said, No way in hell should Tavares go before Austin!!

Austin in the 2nd round would be a borderline steal....I get that he was underwhelming, buts he's near 7 foot tall, has good length and is skilled.

Id take on that project, if you can't convert him to become an inside player, maybe you can get him to be a stretch 4 who can alter shots with his length and run the floor.
