You know nothing! It was also his first year in the NCAA and he performed pretty damn well for a freshman. Not athletic in any sense? why because he doesn't throw down 360 dunks?

He's easily the BPA at 20

This isn't just my opinion, All the scouting reports on Ennis say he's very unathletic. Have a read and see

Yet his max vert tested higher than Elfrid Payton's.

Plus, he's got excellent size and wingspan, and he's very crafty with nice hesitation moves and changing of speed. He's also so poised and under control, which is so underrated.

Giffey seems pretty interesting for a late second rounder

Giffey showed that he deserves consideration as a prospect in his own right, as there's certainly a market for 6-7 wings with decent athleticism who shoot nearly 50% for 3 and are competitive defensively.

I said it before in this thread but Masai already knows who he wants at 20. He probably has 5 players that if available he'll take with #20. On the other hand the 37th & 59th pick are more so in the air. They probably have 10+ players that they like it's just narrowing down the pool of players for those respective picks.

Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration (but I guess that's what message boards are all about!). Most scouts would say that he's not a freak NBA athlete, not that he's "very unathletic". A few quotes from two easy to find sources, nbadraft.net and draftexpress:

"Lacks elite level speed and athleticism. Though he will at times surprise with both."

"He's a decent athlete and his IQ and instincts help him tremendously, but he's ultimately not the most athletic point guard."

"he's not the quickest or most explosive player around. His first step is just average"

"His lateral quickness is not exceptional...That's not to say that he can't improve on this in time, though, as he has good length and excellent anticipation skills"

So yes, his athleticism is not a strength like it is for some PGs like Rose or Westbrook, but it's inaccurate to say that he's "very unathletic". He's a decent athlete, he will be just an average one in the NBA.

Article with Tolzman:

On Tuesday’s draft workout:
“Everyone played well. It was really competitive. We brought in a handful of point guards that we’re kind of considering at both 20 and 37. We kind of just brought them all in. We got a look at them, and they played well. Russ is as fast as they get. He showed that today. Unfortunately Jahii Carson got hurt yesterday at another workout. He’s another extremely fast player. Jordan Clarkson played extremely well. Nick Johnson played well, too. He showed his athleticism and shot the ball well.”

I can hear it already: "With the 20th pick in the 2014 NBA draft, the Toronto Raptors select Russ Smith." (Meanwhile, Brian Colangelo can be seen somewhere pumping his fist)

Looks like Josh Huestis will not be in the cards for the Raptors. Oh well, let's see how things play out.

The Lakers today are working out McDermott, Gordon, Harris, LaVine, Hood, Payton, Smart, Vonleh, Young, Stauskas and Ennis. They should sell tickets.

It's interesting how many of us were originally hoping for Tyler Ennis at 20 early into the year only to watch his hype grow while actual basketball games were being played to the point where he was seen as a late lottery pick. Now, that games are no longer being played and it's all open gym/physical testing stuff he's sliding back down to potentially being there when we pick.

I would be thrilled to have Ennis as our selection at 20. I don't see how any reasonable fan wouldn't be able to make a strong case that he would be BPA there given his age and off-the-charts basketball mind. The fact that he's likely to end up the starting PG for Team Canada's National team long-term acts as a nice bonus to it all after the Wigginsmania we've all put ourselves through the past 2-3 years.

Raptors

The Raptors will be looking to improve their team in order to have a deeper run in the playoffs, and one basketball analyst believes he knows which player they’ll draft.

“I don’t think they can pass on Adreian Payne. He’s just too good,” said Yannis Koutroupis of Basketball Insiders.

There are also questions about Kyle Lowry and Grevais Vasquez in free agency.

“They need to figure out their point guard situation first and foremost,” he said.

“I think they need some additional depth on the wing. I’d like to see them add another scoring threat. It’d be ideal if they could snatch up a Nik Stauskas or James Young, but I doubt they’re still on the board.”

The Raptors have the No. 20 pick in the first round and the No. 37 in the second round.

The 3 prospects I would love for Masai to get in the first round are Ennis, Payne or Stauskas. Im on the fence with Kyle Anderson and TJ Warren. In the second round my main guys are Inglis, Ejim, Early or Stokes.

Maybe we are trading Lowry and DD , we already have 3 point guards if we want them why look at more ? Lowry and DD and the 20 for Irving and the 1 .

Very exited for this draft.
Where do you think Dario Saric lands? He finally had a break out year in a big boys league. His numbers this season were :

16.9 PPG. 9.3 RPG. 3.4 ASI. 1 BLK 1.1 SPG in 32 minutes

12.13 FGA
5.04 FTA

50.5 FG%
32.7 3P%
58.8 TS%

20.7 PER
1.4 PPS

His efficiency somewhat suffered due to his 3 point chucking. But he was very efficient shooting 2 ball.

Yeah the most likely candidate to take Ennis is probably the Bulls since they need back up insurance for Rose. Question is whether they want Payton or Ennis. Maybe Masai can pull a trade to get one of their picks in exchange for some salary cap relief (since the Bulls seem to be hunting for a big name player this offseason).

Still think that Masai might trade Ross +59th to Chicago for Dunleavy + 16th + 49th Chicago gets a player Thibs would love plus save about 2 million in cap space. Dunleavy is a savvy veteran who is 6ft9 SF on a good contract $3 million and could successfully play substantial minutes. We would then have 4 picks 16th, 20th, 37th and 49th.
With 16th and 20th we have a chance of getting 2 out of 4 players Anderson. Porzingis, Ennis or Payton. With 37th opportunity to possibly get Inglis and 49th get Bachynski

We will have no defender at the wing. I am not sure we are trading our perimeter defenders, assuming we may trade Salmons away.

We can't trade Lowry, since he is a FA.
