Rivals?

Post#1 » by Albanian Damien » Mon Jun 2, 2014 7:23 pm

Hey guys, I come here in peace  I was just reading a topic on the general board about the Pacers-Heat rivalry.. Now I'm in the consensus of people who feel that two teams have to have actually beaten each other at one point for it to be a rival.. or for it to at least be even. in my honest biased opinion I thought the Nets series was closer than the pacers. The Nets lost games 4 and 5 on a couple make or break plays by Ray Ray and Bosh. Miami obviously earned the wins but if they don't hit those shot it's a totally different series. On the other hand I felt as if the Pacers got gifted games 2 and 5.. and they almost let the last one slip  However, I just wanted to ask who do you guys feel have been your rivals up untill now. Spurs? Celtics? Cavaliers? or do you feel as if this team stands alone and everyone is their rival?
My Starting 5:

PG: Allen Iverson
SG: Paul Pierce
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: Patrick Ewing

The true rival of this Heat team will always be the Big 3 Celtics with Rondo, KG, and Pierce. The beef those 3 have with LeBron dates all the way back to his Cavs years.

Plus Game 6 vs Boston is the moment LeBron turned the corner went from "great" to "all time great."

In the LeBron, Wade & Bosh era, our rivals will have to be the Celtics who had the core of Pierce, KG, Ray & Rondo...If Spurs win this year then they would be our rival

All-time it will always be the Knicks...**** THE KNICKS

Mavericks are a rival IMO because in terms of just all-time, we're both tied 1-1 in our 2 Finals meetings

Bulls/Heat is not a rivalry because they have never been our equal or close to it but **** THE BULLS also

Traditionally, I would call our main rivals the Celtics and the Knicks. Mostly we just feel sorry for them now though. That's going back to games we saw in the Miami Arena with Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway. It felt wonderful to beat them with out team back then.

I'm not going to bring up the Magic anymore than I just did. That's all they get.

We actually like and respect San Antonio. We know we are not invincible and have to work hard for this. We are ready too, Tim.

We don't care about the Cavaliers at all.

Indiana are good losers. We respect that too. You've got a good team and you shouldn't be too hard on Lance Stevenson. He was doing his best.

The Lebron vs. Boston has carried over to the Heat as a rivalry so definitely them. Spurs are getting there

If BKN and CHI were healthy, they'd be our rivals and give us a run for our money. So IND, BKN, and CHI are our current rivals. We're 1-1 with SAS but we're not rivals. There's no animosity since we're in different conferences. I feel more animosity from DAL than I ever have with SAS.

But no one is a bigger rival with us than NYK....fml. Hands down. NYK takes the cake. You'd have to live down here to understand. It's like Dolphins/Jets bad lols
