Re: The Dante Exum Thread
You know who Exum reminds me of? Form wise at least?
Andre Miller.
Although a quicker, more athletic, better shooting Andre Miller would be scary.

I agree. If he lives up to that caliber of player, I think that would definitely warrant the #4 selection.

I literally was coming in here from another thread to say this. I don't see any Penny at all outside of body type. His game looks ALL Tony Parker to me, plays like him on defense too.

I made that comparison a long time ago and got flamed for it..... His game definitely favors Parker..... Except Exum shows flashes of a post game where Parker has none..... I'm thinking he's somewhere in between Tony Parker and Brandon Royplatinuma1 wrote:eh I see a taller tony parker

I don't see BRoy, as he was a much better shooter coming out and was never an athletic stand out on the court (Roy did post some great numbers at the combine)
but defensively they both were terrible

He does remind me some of Brandon Roy. His style, not his shooting.

in the videos..... I saw him seal his man for good position and his footwork down there tells me he has potential to be used in block situations when he has the height advantage...... Which is pretty much every nightNeon1 wrote:Big Boss wrote:I made that comparison a long time ago and got flamed for it..... His game definitely favors Parker..... A taller Tony Parker is just fine with me. Draft him.

Which video(s)? I'm asking because I pretty much never see him posting up even though he has a huge height advantage. It's actually the main reason I don't see any Penny in him as that was the staple of Penny's offense.

Smooth_E,
I think we need to be VERY CAREFUL in our analysis of Exum....we can't afford to draft a bust.. that is why, IMO we need to take a safe pick at #4, whom we've watched against top Div. 1 competition, not overseas high school caliber kids who cant jump more than 6" off the court to defend his layups.

Re: The Dante Exum Thread
I don't mean my messages to be doomsday in nature....my major position, this past month or so, is that, whoever we draft must be a SAFE PICK, since its so high at #4. The pick should be a safe one, like Dipo last year.
We may never draft this high again...my position is that we need to draft someone who we've seen against top competition, not lesser competition from overseas. That is why IMO, if we draft a PG, it should be Smart.
We can't afford a miss at 4.

Re: The Dante Exum Thread
no what need to do is to draft the best talent.....period....by your logic Orthoman we should of drafted Okafor instead of Dwight right? i mean Okafor played against top competition in the NCAA not the high school scrubs Dwight was playing against right? am i right?

with this logic we should have drafted okafor instead of howard. NO. Not all circumstances do you go for the "safe pic". You do your research, your scouting, You interview, assess and analyze and choose the player you feel will turn out to be a superstar, whether they have a high floor or high risk

damn didnt see this post. even lebron at one point prior to that draft was questioned if he was all hype, the next highschooler to become to a bust. carmelo was the safe pick in that year. now look how that turned out
