He said the Bulls are on his short list and it is really between the Bulls and Golden State.

After that he talked about Joakim Noah being in it and then backtracked to saying there may be a way to do it without giving up Noah.

He says this should go down before the draft.

Some things Love brings that Melo does not:

His max contract is cheaper
Hes pretty much the same age as Rose
Keeps us dominant on the glass
Potentially deadly pick and roll with Rose
Lets us trade our most valuable asset (Mirotic)

Agreed all around

Is that what coldfish was referring to?

I missed it, what did he say?

Great news! Glad to see Chicago being aggressive with Melo. Apparently the leaks by guys like Sam Smith that the Bulls were not interested were completely untrue.

Thanks.

Not sure we can rely on Bucher, he has blown smoke up our butts before.

Yeah I am taking it with a grain of salt.

He also said that he thinks the Bulls have a better chance at Love than Melo. He did clarify though that he is much more dialed in to the Kevin Love situation than the Carmelo one and the last thing he heard is that Carmelo is not going to give up that much money.

Edit: Oh and he also said that he doesn't think Kevin Love visiting Boston means anything

Interesting. I tend to think that the Bulls have a better shot to get Melo than they do Love, but what do I know?

I agree too. Even if you like Melo a tad more you don't pass up on an opportunity to get Love and HOPE you get Melo. If Love is there you take him.

Isn't Bucher connected with the Rose family... I really want to know what Rose is doing, and he needs to be recruiting Love.. NOW!!!! The more noise Love makes about only signing with the Bulls, the less we need to give up!!!

That's what I'm saying. The Love -> Rose connection is much stronger than the Noah -> Melo connection IMO. 2 guys have talked for a couple months and the others train together every summer. You have to believe Rose would LOVE to play with Love... (corny)

Yeah, the Bulls can't get cute here. Getting one superstar is tough enough. Get one than worry about the next thing.

This is an interesting situation in that the Bulls can actually threaten Minnesota. After July 1, all of these assets will be in play for Melo. Minnesota can't wait Chicago out in hopes of getting a better offer because if Melo says yes to some deal that requires picks or Gibson going out, Minnesota loses.

I have said before that I think that Love goes on draft night. That's when these picks have maximum value.

One other thing to say: If there is any star who would look past Rose's injury history, it would be Love. He worked out with him all last summer and saw what he can do up close and personal.

Time to get both, GarPax!!! Work your magic!!

Mirotic goes to NY, Boozer + Taj + Jimmy and or Picks go to Minnesota!

I think they worked out together the past 3 summers. Him, Westbrook, and Rose

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I still think Melo's the better long term fit; however, the problem/beauty of Love is that you need to act on him before Melo.

I still think that the leak of this is to get GS to send Barnes+Thompson+Lee for Love.

Yes you can, provided you don't make bad personel moves like the Timberwolves and Knicks have historically.

the spurs don't have the best top end quality.

The Spurs have 3 future hall of famers on their team. They absolutely are one of the best top-end teams in the league from a talent standpoint. Those Pistons teams are from a different time and era and need not apply to a modern conversation about winning a championship.

yet both have had more success than the wolves and knicks

The Wolves and Knicks have basement front offices, the Bulls do not. That's the bigggest difference.

we played miami tough in the ecf with that nucleus! with rose playing poorly!

We lost in 5 games and each game we lost was because of the same reason: not enough top end talent to close out a game. Also, the 2011 version of the Heat is the worst version of their team in 4 years. They are a much better team since then and we are not.

Your hope is that middling talent will play above their heads for over 100 games. It's something that rarely happens, which is why it isn't a championship model.

So the Bulls want to keep Gibson around to play 15 minutes per game backing up Love? I bet Taj will be thrilled.

Gibson will be backing up both love and Noah. Gibson would play 32 minutes a game, Noah 30, and love 34. Smith for insurance. Gibson would also spot start for Noah.

Of the top 10 floor units that Gibson played on - for a total of 1289 minutes - only 181 minutes were spent at C (14%) (assuming Boozer was playing PF when the two were together). If Thibs wasn't willing to play Gibson at C with Boozer, why is he going to do it with Love?

Taj has never played more than 28 minutes a game - despite the fact he was clearly better than Boozer last season, and you expect that to go up by nearly 4 minutes per game after acquiring Love? I don't know why it would.

Bucher is TERRIBLE....I used to like the guy but man has he lost it..... Taj and Butler doesn't work salary wise Bucher, sorry. Oh and Noah he most certainly won't be traded for Love so we even mention it. The guy is **** clueless.
