What do y'all think about Cj Fair? Do you think that we could draft him if Damien Inglis or our top options are gone as the 37th pick? After all Masai did visit Syracuse games and might have him as one of the options for the 37th pick.

Some Spurs forum has Inglis on their list. Based on other sources, it is not surprised Inglis is gone before our 2nd pick. I would also have Powell at #37, but I am not sure he is getting workout with the Raptors.

Anderson will probably develop a post game eventually, but right now he only has a turnaround fadeaway so he's not really a threat in the post. Hedo could occasionally get up for those unexpected dunks in the half-court off of a drive. Maybe more space will grant Anderson to drive, but I rarely saw him dunking off of a drive. He's literally ground-bound unless he's filling the lanes in transition and he can use his length to finish. Just watching his workout video you can tell he struggles a lot to do anything explosive. Even his step-backs are slow.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

So what's your opinion of Cj Fair?

I really like him as a prospect but he has some serious flaws. He doesn't pass the ball. Probably the worst SF passing rates in college, so it may not fit in with our philosophy. He is also a thin as a rail which makes him at a disadvantage against big SFs who can play in the post. Plus, he is wildly inconsistent. He can have a great stretch of games but then he disappears. He ended strong in UConn, but you have to wonder about his consistency in a tougher NBA environment.
and to add to why he's a bad fit, he played all his mins at PF at uconn, he actually played more mins at C than at SF.
he hasn't proven he's a SF yet, but he would only ever be able to play SF in the NBA so it's where he's listed.
it's my biggest pet peeve, when players are incorrectly listed
to add to my rant, Jabrari Parker is a PF, lol

I think he's gonna be available with later pick, tweener senior not very good defensively

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

I think he is very talented and unselfish, but the fact is he is a player that had possession after possession run through him. Coming to the Raptors he will have to play off the ball. Does this role fit his game? I don't think so. I think we really have to consider the fit when you have Lowry and Derozan and JV who deserve possessions and regularly have the offense go through them.
I think we need a guy like Ross who is a good shooter, energy defender that can play off the ball. Anderson just seems like a poor fit with the way we are composed.
Disagree. We're in pretty dire need of floor-game and facilitation at the 3. Ball movement improved post trade but tightened right up in the playoffs because even Lowry isn't the best passer. JV doesn't get ideal post-feeds nor nearly enough assists when on the move.
Anderson seems like the kind of player whose passing is infectious, and suddenly your percentage of easy buckets makes a crucial leap. Add that his jumper is looking more and more NBA-ready and you've got potential for massive synergies.
Lowry and Demar aren't a good enough passers to not want a point forward that can shoot. The only real issue is defenseman and he's even got potential there due to his length.

There is no issue with his offense, he would help to improve it for us.
The issue is that he has no position that he could guard he would get eaten up by SF's in this league. KJ McDaniels all the wya

He would clearly guard the 3, maybe the 4 eventually. He'd be a liability at first but most of these rookies will be. Even coach Casey is willing to trade defense for of offense at times. Its not like Vasquez was being played at the 2 for his lockdown skills, or a younger Demar loaded up with minutes for his.

Am I the only guy on this board that doesn't have a hard-on for damien inglis? I get it that we need to guard SFs after what joe johnson did to us but apart from having good size and long arms the dude doesn't do anything above average while playing 15 mpg in a french league

Looks like our scouts agree with me on Mr. Anderson......very happy to hear this but I have very little faith he will be available at #20 considering his skillset.

With what cap space? He's also a RFA
Dang, how much do we have, with a re-signed Lowry?
well around 43 million assuming Hansbrough & Salmons are waived. Thats without factoring in Lowry. So lets project the cap to be around 60 million, if you re-sign Lowry to a deal around 10 million your at 53 million. Leaving you with 7 million in space. Thats with renouncing all of Vasquez, Patterson & De Colo. Houston would match a deal at 7 million no problem and it isnt worth us losing both vasquez & patterson.

At 20, I think I'm going to say Elfrid Payton is the early favorite if we stay there.

What is he, a pg? pg/sg?? I have no urgency to draft one of those right now. I'd rather a big then another guard. All this is under the notion we are able to bring back both pgs of course

I really don't want Anderson
Most of the guys i liked have all moved up which sucks because I was hoping to grab 2 of LaVine, K.J, Payne, Hood or Capela with our picks #20 and #37 now it looks like we'd be lucky to get one of them at #20

Re: 2014 NBA Draft Prospects Thread #5 | Raps picking 20th
LOL if you guys think Casey will play Anderson. If sits Ross (our best perimeter defender) because of defensive lapses, imagine what will happen to Anderson. I can see it now.
Casey - "what are you doing! Play defense!!!"
Anderson - "Coach i gave a valiant effort, these guys are professionals"
Anderson benched for the next 10 games. This guy wont play for Casey and if he has a say in the draft process (which my guess is he does), he wont be drafted by us. Payton, McDaniels, guys like that who give it on the defensive end would IMO be ahead of Anderson as a draft choice.
