Trade 1:

Pistons in- Wilson Chandler, pick #25
Rockets in- 2 future Detroit 2nds
Nuggets in- Lin

Rockets dump Lin's deal, Nuggets move some longer term salary and add a solid backup point/free themselves up to shop Lawson, we add a wing and get back into the 1st - cap room ~$12 mil

Trade 2:

Pistons in- S&T Gordon Hayward (4 years / $38 mil)
Jazz in- Datome/Mitchell/pick 38

Jazz get incentive to not match a Hayward deal, we get a starting wing. - Cap Room ~$4 mil

FA - Patty Mills (3 years/$13 mil) & DeJuan Blair ($2.5 mil room)

Draft Kyle Anderson (or similar wing) #25

Jennings/Mills/Siva
Hayward/KCP
Chandler/Singler/Rookie (25 pick)
Monroe/Smith/Blair
Drummond/Harrellson

Actually thought this was serious for a minute.

Monroe for Eric Gordon could have sense, because he was healthy the whole last season, and we need a GREAT shooter and that's what he is. If he can back at the 100% he was an incredible player, very good perimeter defender, great finishing at the rim (impressive for his size) and a potential all star player. Damn, I think he could have been better than Harden (if you're looking at the both sides of the court).

You're thinking of pre-knee injury riddled Eric Gordon. The Eric Gordon that played last season was little more than a spot up jump shooter. The explosiveness was clearly gone. Maybe Detroit's trainers could rejuvenate him, but that's an awfully expensive gamble.

I didn't see too many NOP games, so I think you're right my friend, he's contract is awful if he hasn't got his old explosiveness.

What about Kevin Martin. Good shooter and Minny doesn't seem like they'd want much for him. Contract the next three years is 6.8, 7.4 and a player option at 7.4. Sort of a neutral value guy. Basketball reference has him listed as both a two and a point, which surprised me.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Could be a good return for Monroe in a S&T, but a lineup with Jennings and Martin... seems so weak on defense.

Every team that ever has Kevin Martin hates him from about 2 weeks in. Theres a reason for that. The guy plays ZERO defense, and takes some bad shots. I've heard from wolves fans that its quite possible he didn't get in a defensive stance once last season. He does not care one bit on that end, and it frustrates the teams fans to no end. (heard the exact same thing from houston fans.)
I do not want anything to do with him.

Kings trade #8/Landry/Terry to Detroit for Josh Smith

It will get DET their original pick back and free up cap space 2015 off season.

This has been beat to death. Most Kings fans hate it.

Monroe for Eric Gordon or Kevin Martin?

:noway:

Maybe it's time to sit a few plays out.

Unless we get some sort of pics, I'll say no as well.

freddy wrote:How about this trade with Boston being rumored to want "win now" players instead of draft picks.

Boston Trades: Wallace, Green, one of Sillier or Olynick (sp) and #6 pick in the draft

Detroit trades: Smith, Jerebko, and Bynum

Detroit gets a high lotto pick. Sucks to take on Wallace but we get a high draft pick and a SF who is better than any on the team currently.

Boston reunites Smith and Rondo as well as dumps Wallace.

I'd consider it but that Wallace deal is brutal. I'd like to pick at 6 so maybe.

Pistons trade Bynum and Jerebko to the Clippers for Dudley (2 years at 4 mil), Willie Green (1.4 mil, contract not guaranteed for next season) and Reggie Bullock.

This trade is almost cap neutral and won't impact our capspace. The Clippers get 2 quality guys to backup Paul and Blake, both are expiring. Dudley had an off year but wasn't that bad in Phoenix at all. The Pistons take a chance on Dudley and get a prospect in Bullock for taking on Dudleys 2 years of salary. Green could be waived for zero cost. Anyway the Pistons get a lot more depth at SG/SF. These guys could be decent rotation players. Pistons still have enough capspace to upgrade PG.

I would love to somehow get Afflalo back here...but can't think of anything the Magic would want.

I think the Dudley deal is realistic enough. He was useful in Phoenix...though I wouldn't waive Green I'd use him as depth.

Then just sign a PG like Vasquez or do a 1 year deal with Hinrich, Nelson (if he's bought out) or Ridnour

Singler/Dudley/Datome
KCP/Green
Jennings/Free Agent

Not amazing but at least it's plausible

Smith for Mayo and Sanders

Maybe Mayo could get his "Dallas groove" and be the starting sg. I think Milwaukee regrets the contract they give to Sanders, so he would be a good PF/C backup for Monroe and Dre

Yeah, I'll do this. I thought of a similar trade scenario a couple of months ago to grab Sanders. Sanders would be an expensive back-up, but I think he'll be worth it.

I proposed a Smith, Bynum, Jerebko for Ilyasova, Mayo deal like 1 week ago. Bucks get rid of 2 disappointing players and get a new starting PF, Pistons get two 3pt shooters who's contracts are one year shorter than Smith's + 5 mil more capspace this summer.

Return to Detroit Pistons
