Would Cavs trade Bennett for Lee?
Golden State Warriors fan here. Just wanted to get your feedback on this trade idea....
Considering Dan Gilbert wants the Cavs to make the playoffs NOW....
David Lee
for
Anthony Bennett
No. 33 Pick
Lee's a proven talent and probably an allstar in the East. Bennett was embarrassingly bad (6.95 PER) and has high bust potential. He'll probably be considered overpaid for the duration of his rookie deal.
Cavs
PG: Irving / Jack
SG: Waiters / Dellavedova
SF: Wiggins / Gee / Karasev
PF: Lee / Thompson
C: Varejao / Zeller
Trade would have to be finalized after July 1st.

Hawks fan, I come in peace...
Apparently Horford is on the list of players to be dealt for the #1. I wouldn't do it I guess, but... what would it take for the Hawks to land the #1 pick?
I would suggest Horford, Jenkins and our 15th pick for the #1 and whatever you consider to be bad contracts. Jack I would assume, and perhaps Bennett?

There are also rumors we'll deal Teague for the #7 or #8. Would Horford + the #8 be enough?

I don't know what rumors you are referring to but if the Cavs are targeting Horford, I'm pretty sure they aren't trading the No. 1 pick. Everything I've read has said that the No. 1 pick is off the table.
I could see a Teague/Horford for Kyrie/AV and future first trade.

How do you trade No. 33 and finalize it after July 1st? I'd consider TT for Lee straight up. Cavs aren't giving up on Bennett yet.

I do not see what Lee adds to this team. If we draft Embiid, will we not be playing Bennett, hoping he can be the third dynamic scorer this team will need to compete?
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Lee adds a low post scoring threat. I don't see Bennett being ready to start until year 3 and I wouldn't want to force the issue by gifting him a starting role.

Lee is also a sieve on the defensive end, whereas Bennett showed glimpses of at least being an average defender though. If you go for Lee, you have to hope that Embiid is the selection at #1, and establishes himself as a defensive presence in year one.

Cavs have plenty of bad defenders in the front court. What they don't have is any scoring down low.

I cant really agree with that. He was basically the worst defensive player in the league.

Defensive statistics are crap. So many variables and they aren't often accurate.

The trade would be agreed to at the draft, Cleveland would select at 33 whomever GS wants, and then trade their draft rights with AB for Lee. Hypothetically.
But it would also require renouncing Deng and Hawes immediately and giving up any flexibility of S&T involving them.

There's talk of a lottery pick trade for Waiters and Thompson. I think the unmentioned team may be L.A. Utah is also another possibility.
How's Tristan Thompson developed since the draft?

Don't want to trade waiters for 7th but who knows.
In Thompson is slowly improving. Not the most talented player going round but a real hard worker. Really good rebounder especially on the offensive boards. One of the wetter post defenders going round as well.
Cons - not really an impactful help defender yet but he will get better. And he pretty much sucks offensively. Can get hustle points and the occasional post up but not great. Got a quick first step and can get to the line. Struggles against the big bigs.

Jazz Fan- Trade #5 and Derrick Favors for #1
Do you like Favors?
Jazz want to move up......offer their best player and #5 and Favors.
Tell me what can be added to make the trade fair and acceptable. The Jazz value Thompson and Waiters.......maybe the Jazz would take one of them or a bad contract to make things even.

First of all, moving this to the trade thread.
Secondly, the value isnt terrible, and one of the better offers I've seen on here recently, but you win with superstars in this league. I'd rather swing and miss on a potential superstar then to go with a guy who will likely never make an all-star game.
