From The future of the Wolves, why I'm excited (LONG) post:
Considering this
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... Kevin-Love It says "The Timberwolves reportedly believe they have already fielded better trade offers, including from the Chicago Bulls." That's talking about the Celtics offer so maybe Flip is on the same page as I am, not super excited about #6 but likes the bulls deal.
More reasons to like the bulls deal flexibility - We need a PF and a SG and it just so happens that's what Gibson and Butler are. A lot will be made about our ability to score but I don't care. I still think Rubio can elevate these guys enough to be respectable and we'll actually be good on defense.
If we're not feeling it, then it's been said the Kings would be really interested in Gibson and if Mirotic won't come over for us, I'm sure the Lakers or some other big market team would be interested in him. That alone could net us #7 and #8, which compared to the Celtics #6 just seems WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better to me. Ideally Mirotic would play for us but I don't know how likely / realistic that is.

Bulls fan here:
I have enjoyed reading your posts and agree with some of your logic, however the main piece of a K Love trade to Chicago is the amazing Carlos Boozer. As much as I would hate to see either Jimmy or Taj get traded; one of them most go to create the needed cap space to fill out the roster.
In regards to Mirotic: everyone in Chicago knows that he will only come to the NBA to play for Chicago or the Lakers. With that said, then only trade he would be involved in would be from Chicago to LA. Which the bulls would have looked closer at if the Lakers had a top 3 pick. On the other hand, based off of his accomplishments thus far; Mirotic would be a top 5 pick in this years draft.
If I had to choose between Melo and Love, I would choose Love. Melo has been the cancer of the two teams he has been on thus far. Yes he can score; when Carlos Boozer was Melo's age we was a 20 & 10 guy, but a cancer because he didn't play defense.
Enjoy your off-season.
