the Forum? LMAO

via which freeway exit may i ask? nobody is going to spend 2 billion on a franchise to move his team in the heart of Inglewood. I would rather bet my money on 20 billion dollar man to build his own arena, if he wishes to, places like Marina Del Ray, Santa Monica, near Hollywood Bowl, Malibu area, even next to the Getty Center before they go crawl into the Forum with no nearby freeway access. what non-clipper venue can he possibly be hosting that is worth money there? Nate Dogg and Warren G's come back tour?

LMAO! :banghead:

Clearly they would knock down the Forum and build a new arena, the location is perfect. And not near a Freeway? If you live in LA, you know the 405, 105 & 110 all have access to the Forum and exits, plus the Forum is right around the corner from LAX Airport (I know, I work as a bartender at LAX Airport). The Lakers/Kings played there for 30+ years so to say there is no near freeway access is a little silly. But Steve Ballmer controlling his own arena would only increase the value of the franchise, but I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Ballmer starts banging the drum of the Clippers needing their own arena.

The Clippers practice facility is in Playa Vista as well which is a 10 to 15 minute drive from the location of the Forum, but MSG would have to be willing to sell the land since they own the renovated Forum now but I think they would be willing to do a deal if they can benefit from it. at the end of the day, it's more just an idea and suggestion but it wouldn't surprise me if Ballmer starts going nuts about wanting a new arena and using that as possible leverage if he wants to move the team to Seattle.

hmmmmm noope not really

it has been 16 years since I Left LA for good but I still do remember that the 405 (which is the closest freeway from the forum) was a couple of miles away in a busy city traffic. 110 was about double that distance away from what I remember. that is not a close freeway access when you are coming out of a rough neighborhood after a game night. i remember the concert nights at the forum wasn't very fun to come out of, in a congested traffic in the middle of the night in that neighborhood, albeit it was better than my old work at slausen 20 years ago. and I am pretty darn sure they haven't changed the freeway access around there and the traffic hasn't got any better. if you really consider that area to be a good location, why not then just buy the old LA Sports Arena back and rebuild on that site? it is just right off the 110 and only a few miles away from the Forum anyway. the neighborhood is just as crappy but the freeway access is right next to the parking lot.

Was leaving the Forum really that much worse than leaving the Sports Arena? The last Laker game I went to was with my Dad and he drove, so I can't talk about it, but I do remember going to Clipper game in the Sports Arena and making sure our doors were locked up tight!

I told my brother (yet another bandwagon fan, USC football, Laker basketball...) this was going to happen. Ballmer buys up Staples and kicks the Lakers out. Lakers spin it as they want their own arena....

I want Ballmer to show he is serious about doing everything possible to build a winner. Step one should be to redo the Clippers locker room, It's BS that they are co-tenants but have a smaller locker room!

naw man, if Ballmer buys the Staples, we shouldn't kick the Lakers out. we should just take over their locker room and give them ours. in fact, we should renovate just before we do that to make the current locker room even smaller, then we swap.

Forgive me for not knowing, but how many "home" locker rooms does staples have? I kind of assumed between us, lakers, Kings and anyone else that the home locker room was whoever was playing that night.
