RunDogGun wrote:Not good news today. While running test to see if they got all the cancer, they found a bunch more cells near his cerebellum. F*cking sh*t!

So now they have to wait until he has recovered from the surgery, and then as much chemo as he can take. I can't believe how much pain he will go through, and only three years old. :(

And I can't even imagine what my sister and brother in law are going through right now. There was nothing they could do, it's a rare form of cancer, and they are just hoping it isn't also in his bone.

This can't be easy since unlike falling down and scrapping a knee, it must be incredibly difficult to try and explain to a very young child why there is the pain he's feeling and even harder for him to understand why he's going through this pain :nonono: .

I'm not a religious person but your nephew is in my thoughts.

Yep, besides going crazy in your head about the possibility of losing your child, having to explain what is going on, must be difficult.

I think my sister said she told him that he needs to be a superhero and fight the evil cancer.
Thank you for your thoughts.

Wow, so sorry to hear about this continued nightmare. Just doesn't seem fair. Still keeping him in my thoughts until he beats this thing!

Thanks Miklo. My sister's son is only a couple months older than my son, so I can only imagine what she is going through. I hate it when my kids are sick, let alone something of this magnitude.

Well I got an update today, and it wasn't good. The MRI done today showed cancer on the spine, and the cancer is so aggressive that the area where the tumor that was removed already shows signs of regrowth after two weeks.

Tomorrow they find out whether or not it is in the bone marrow. Also because the cancer is growing at such a rapid pace, they will start chemo tomorrow, which is a week early than they like to start that (usually four weeks after surgery).

So if you are a praying person, a little three year old needs a break. His name is Adam.

I thank you in advance for any thoughts or prayers.

Ugh, that is literally sickening. I'll be wishing all the best for Adam. I'm doing the Race for the Cure in 2 weeks and although that's for breast cancer, I will use him as motivation for training and as destination for my good vibes.

Thanks guys! Hopefully today, two good things happen and they catch a break for once. If they can run a test to make sure it's not in the bone marrow, and if he responds well to the first stage of chemo. If both of those steps work out, he should have a fighting chance, which at this point is all we can ask for.

I'm very thankful for all the kind thoughts, and I will keep everyone informed as I get the info.

Can't say much since I can't even come close to understand what you're going through but I'm wishing strength to you and your family, you have my thoughts. Keep hoping for the best.

Thank you. I can't even imagine what my sister and brother in law are going through. I'm still a few states away, and don't have to watch their son be in so much pain, and he is still throwing up constantly.

But first wave of chemo happened Friday and some doses Saturday. I just really hope this slows or stops the growths without killing needed cells. We still haven't got the results for the bone marrow. Fingers crossed, and praying to whatever God or gods that will listen.

Recently watched this game. That first quarter by Chuck was just wow. Play-by-play guy may sound familiar.

I just want to thank everyone who sent good thoughts and prayers towards my three year old nephew. Little Adam caught his first break, and the bone marrow test show no signs of cancer.

Still huge mountains to climb, but right now I'm so f*cking happy.

I have to say I've been bracing myself when opening this thread just not knowing what the latest news will be, and this is a big relief. One step at a time and hopefully the good news keeps coming.

Thanks, I've been bracing for the worst as well. His white blood cell count is really low, but that us expected with chemo. There is a lot of fight in this kid.

I don't normally check out this thread, but I take a glance every once in a while. RDG, your nephew is in my thoughts and prayers. It breaks my heart to hear what is going on. Does your sister have a donation page setup, I'd like to help in other ways beside prayer. I imagine the medical bills will be piling up.

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers, for they seem to be helping.

I haven't asked her about that yet, but I was thinking of trying to set something up. She is a pediatrician in the area, so I don't know if there has been any help because of that. However, I will ask her soon, and let anyone who wants to help, know. I have a bunch of Facebook friends that would definitely want to contribute.

Also because my sister works at a hospital nearby, they have cleared her case work for the month, and probably lightened the load until more is known.

My parents just went out there, and my brother in laws' parents and family live there, so they have been getting a bunch of help and support with the day to day, and help with their other son, who is around 14 months.

What they have asked is for people to donate plasma and platelet(if I remember correctly) to your local blood donation, because cancer patients need it.

It's really hard to see pictures of him, with all the weight he has lost. He is two months older than my oldest, and they have a bunch of similar features.

But this latest news about the bone marrow has been the best news that I could hope for at this point. I will keep everyone informed, and hopefully from now on, it will be positive.

I remember watching this game at AWA when I was a kid. They had a huge TV in the middle of the court and it was almost as good as seeing the game in person. I remember everyone going nuts the whole time.

Well little Adam is improving daily, but still some issues with vomiting. He lost his hair yesterday, so I shaved mine today. Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.

Lord please take care of your little one, Adam. Give him your peace, and be present with all of Adam's family so that they have the strength to bear this burden. Thank you God for each day Adam and his family are together, please give us more. Thank you Lord.
