At age 21 (about to turn 22), this was his first full season in the NBA bang with the best in the NBA down low, and averaged 17.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per 36 minutes.
If you compare his numbers to Taj Gibson (about to turn 29 yrs old), he's a superior player offensively and a better rebounder. Gibson is a better defender, but Sully is an excellent defender in the post and uses his physicality to keep his man away from the basket. He has a tougher time against length, but he's had to guard Tim Duncan, the Gasol boys and other elite NBA centers whilst playing out of position as the Celtics wait for a center. Someone like Gibson has also had the luxury of playing between Noah and Jimmy Butler which helps his numbers immensely.
Sullinger is a monster on the glass and has beautiful finishing skills around the basket- he uses his enormous backside and thick body to distance lengthy defenders and create space to finish. His jump shot is developing and he has solid mechanics.
Some standout nights this season:
31 pts, 16 rebounds vs Cousins
26 points, 8 rebounds vs LM Aldridge
26 points, 8 rebounds vs Amir Johnson
25 points 20 rebounds vs Amir Johnson/Valancunas
24 points, 17 rebounds vs Thadeus Young and Spencer Hawes (lol Hawes sucks)
23 points, 12 rebounds vs Marc Gasol
19 points, 17 rebounds vs Tim Duncan (guarded Duncan and held him to 13 pts 9 rebounds)
Remember he was a consensus top 5 pick in 2012 until his back issues made him plunge. He then had corrective surgery in the latter part of the season and hasn't missed any games due to back problems since the surgery in 2013. (he played 74 games this current season).

Jarred Sullinger and the 17th pick for Sacto's #8 pick
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

So my question to you is why trade Sullinger? If there is a better player at 8 the Celtics are willing to give Sully up to get, why shouldn't the Kings just draft that player at 8?

Don't see the fit next to Cousins. Sully seems like a great player but not a good fit.

To send the pick to Minnesota as part of a Kevin Love deal.

I can see why Minnesota would value the pick over Sully. I think the Kings will have the same feelings. His fit just doesnt move the needle for the Kings here. This is probably a no on the trade.

Don't really like the idea of pairing undersized Sullinger with Cousins. Seems like an odd fit. Would rather draft Randle or Gordon.

Re: Jarred Sullinger and the 17th pick for Sacto's #8 pick
What about Kelly Olynyk instead of Sullinger?
I was literally about to post this same sort of topic in the general forum but with it being Sullinger or Olynyk. I feel like Sacramento is most likely looking at a PF at #8, and in this deal they can still get a PF prospect, one who is more likely to contribute now, and only have to drop 9 spots back to do it. And the Celtics can then put two top ten picks on the table in a trade for Love.
Also who do the Kings like with #8? I feel like Gordon or Vonleh will be there, I don't think Smart slips past #7.

Easy no. Sullinger isn't worth a lottery pick. There's nobody I want at 17.

We want love too is the problem with helping Boston facilitate a Love trade

Yeah, but lets say Minnesota counts the Kings out (they get outbid) and Minnesota is choosing between Chicago and Boston. Boston wants to increase their offer by turning Sullinger/Olynyk and #17 into a second lottery pick to offer up (they could even then move #6 for a young current nba talent and still offer up #8 in a deal).
In that type of scenario would Olynyk and #17 or Sullinger and #17 be interesting enough for the Kings to get #8 involved?
They're two very different PF prospects (Sullinger is big bodied can work down low and decent mid range, Olynyk is stretch 4 with extra size, primarily a shooter) so it gives you options as to who you want to pair with Cousins and they can be had for only moving back 9 spots to #17 (where there should be some real talent this year still).

Re: Jarred Sullinger and the 17th pick for Sacto's #8 pick
I feel like the majority of the people on this board picture an athletic shot blocking big next to DMC, and that doesn't describe either Olynyk or Sully. If I had to choose I would pick Sully but I don't see us giving up 8 for him and 17. If there is a way we can dump JT in the process then maybe.

The Celtics is one of those teams where literally NO ONE on that team interest me. Not even Rondo, but that's a different discussion.
