Re: The random Dallas Mavericks news thread
Aussie here who watched every one of Goulding's games last season.
He's not bashful at all, though that may be a product of him being the alpha dog in a weaker league, but he does certainly like to put shots up. Can be an absolutely amazing scorer, relative to this league at least, catching fire from 3, and he can shoot excellently off the dribble as well.
He's fairly athletic, not going to dunk on people but he'll surprise you with athletic lay-ins or dunks every now and then.
It'll be interesting to see how he adapts to playing in a smaller role, he may flourish or struggle. I guess, all you need to know is he's an extremely advanced offensive player that could potentially be a sparkplug bench player and shooter for you.
The 50 point game was insane, and it was a 40 minute game, but he put up absurd stat-lines all season. We have guys like Sam Young, James Ennis (Heat pick), and previously Johnny Flynn, and he's definitely the best scorer of the bunch. We had Patty Mills play here during the lockout and even Goulding was a better scorer than him here. Real potential.
*I should note that I don't think he'll make the team, let alone the rotation, but I'm very interested to see how he goes. As I said, he's got NBA potential.

So their target should be Chicago. Dallas, Houston, Golden States...won't even make the Western Finals.

Two things to note here.
1. It's spelled "role" not "roll" player. Come on dhud8 get your proper word use game up.
2. James Harden is starting to play some defense.

Re: The random Dallas Mavericks news thread
Should we start an appreciation thread of those ex-Mavs now? Among all, I miss VC and Matrix the most. We now miss the Vincinity-Wright stuff pick-n-roll and a tough guy that can stop the likes of CP3, Wade and so on. I don't think Crowder is quick enough to stick with them. Let alone our PGs.

Didn't think it warranted its own thread, but Mekel notched up a triple double in Eurobasket qualifiers-

Mavs signed Sarge for one year. Does it mean Wright is gonna be traded?

Not sure what it means. Hurts Ivan Johnson's chances of making the team tho.
I do keep thinking the Mavs might package Wright/Felton once Felton can be traded with someone else for one more upgrade. I'd love to see Wright/Felton/Ledo/2015 1st for a Bledsoe S&T for instance.

maybe it means that sarge is gonna get traded/gonna be part of a trade package.
honestly doesn't make much sense to hand out a full-guaranteed contract at this point, does it?
Wake up, girl. I wanna go surfing.

Re: The random Dallas Mavericks news thread
Bledsoe for Wright + trash would be awesome, but highly unlikely.
I think the FO found out that someone is badly injured or something, otherwise it's really weird to give a fully guaranteed deal to a dude to play in D-league.

Re: The random Dallas Mavericks news thread
I love Wright's hustle game but he has to go to make room for a better lineup. There's Aminu and Smith already to replace him. I wish Mavs can get a cheap UFA that can be taught to become a decent center to back up T. Chandler.
I smell that dude Slava Kravtsov from Phoenix before. 6'11 250 lbs, in his bid-20s but has massive room for improvement due to athletic ability and strength. Decent defender and has the potential to turn into a Pekovic with better defense and athleticism.
Sign DeShawn Stevenson again for vet-min.
Okafor is injury-battered. J.Oneal is old.
C: Tyson Chandler, Slava Kravtsov, Bernard James
PF: Dirk Nowitzki, Greg Smith, Ivan Johnson
SF: Chandler Parsons, Al-Farouq Aminu, Ricky Ledo
SG: Monta Ellis, Richard Jefferson, Deshawn Stevenson
PG: Jameer Nelson, Devin Harris, Gal Mekel
Sorry not really a fan of Felton, Lamb, and Eric Griffin. But I think this lineup is solid. It's pretty possible also.
Stevenson, Aminu, and Smith covers up Ellis', Parson's, and Nowitzki's defensive shortcomings respectively.
Kravtsov, James, and Johnson are bruisers that can tenderize competition for Tyson Chandler.
Jefferson, Harris, and Ledo can score off the bench in volumes. Stevenson and Smith can score in and out whe needed.

Re: The random Dallas Mavericks news thread
in other kicking the tires hoping to find another player news--Mavs are supposedly interested in Goran Dragic' brother Zoran. I'm all for trying to bring him in, but I'm assuming with his contract situation he would need gtd money to come. But Goran is a FA next year and should be on the Mavs radar and so it will be interesting to see if anything comes of the talks with his brother.

Re: The random Dallas Mavericks news thread
Im not shocked to see Rick, Devin, and Fin--but pretty cool that Monta showed up.
Also, Fin looks enormous and I never before noticed Devin's upper body. Wonder if this is new this year or I just still picture him as skinny Devin from his first tenure?
