Omg Chicago is not going to turn into Minny now or ever. Please make it stop.
Minny did not have Rose, Noah, Thibs, and Garpax. Good grief.

People worried about team identity over whats best for the team. We all love Taj and Butler, but Love would be a right step toward improving next year and for years to come.

Or, they think a two-way player with elite defense in Gibson and another elite wing defender in Butler is "what's best for the team" in addition to team identity.

Ina line-up of Rose, K Mart, Dunleavy Love and Noah, who, exactly is goiing to stop Lebron, Wade, Paul George or even Bill Carwright's grandma on the perimeter? Thibs doesn';t play and neither does Garpax.

Love isnt a winner. He couldnt lead his team into the playoffs. We better get Melo via sign and trade.

if we get rid of Jimmy in a trade, we have nobody to guard Lebron. That's a sad fact that can't be overlooked

We didn't seem to have a lot of trouble finding Jimmy did we? Look, I like Jimmy just as much as the next person. But he can be replaced. He really can. And if it takes sacrificing him for the greater good of the team then that is what needs to be done. The fact of the matter is that it's easier to find a Jimmy Butler than it is to find a Melo or KLove.

2 way player? Butler? Sorry he is not. You are worried about who's going to guard James. Wrong way to think. Who's going to guard Love?
Again, you are holding on to "team identity" with 2 super subs. Sorry, the East is getting better and as constructed with no changes we are a 3-4 seed. NBA hell! Stars win in this league. Keep holding on to the hustle guys, I have faith in getting Love and allowing Garpax/Thibs to bring the hustle into players. You can find hustle guys, someone like Love doesn't come around.

How often do you think teams just get an all nba defensive team perimeter player?
You make it sound as if you can just grab some average Joe and have him replace Jimmy. It's hard to replace guys like that, but I do agree it's easier than finding a Melo, but st the same time what Jimmy brings on the wings may matter alot more than what we give it credit for.

How did we guard LeBron before Jimmy, in 2011? We had Deng and Brewer remember.
People love Butler now in part because he's cheap, but in a year he won't be. He will be making likely 4-6 million per year, and at that rate, if he never find his three point shot, or stops hitting it, say like Thabo did this year, he won't be a cost efficient payer for us at all. The Thunder ended up benching and hardly playing Thabo to end the series vs SA because he was just too big a liability to put out there.
But of course I think you'd rather throw in draft picks if possible instead of Jimmy, for winning now.

That's already been debunked dozens of times.
Melo or Love, either would provide buckets of much needed buckets.

Re-read what I wrote. I did not say Butler was a two-way player. But Taj Gibson certainly is. They are both ELIE defenders and an integral part of our team identity in addition to making this team an elite defensive team. You are not going to get that with Kevin Love and Keven Martin.
Sorry. I do not agree with your Kevin Love ideas nor your downplaying of Taj and Jimmy as "subs." I think they're wrong headed and misguided and would not make us a better team.

True, but now we have a washed up Brewer and no Deng.
Agreed he may be overpaid when his contract is up, but what about when Love's contract is up? Will he be demanding the max? Will he give us the D12 treatment and leave us after we trade so much for him?

You don't trade for Love unless he agrees to re-sign here. At that point you don't worry about 5 years down the road, you have your window and try to win within it as best you can.
I don't think anyone is suggesting we pay the farm without that assurance, say like Sacto has willingly suggested they might do, despite the risk.

Re: The Kevin Love Thread: Update PG. 67, 78
Jimmy has to improve his offense if he has to be on the court. He just cannot play at the same time with Joakim although Joakim is pretty versatile offensively as a Center. The problem is most Centers will be offensively challenged and if they are good offensively, they probably are terrible defensively.
Thabo couldn't play next to even a Durant and Westbrook. That shows how sophisticated defenses can attack a team even with a couple of problem guys on offense. I don't hold the same view with Taj. I think Taj has improved enough to play with anyone and his passing problems will go away with less attention he would get with better guys like Derrick around him. But, Jimmy is in trouble even with his great defense.
Unfortunately, he is turning into Ronnie Brewer of 2011. I am not sure the Timberwolves even want Jimmy to begin with. He will be a liability next to Rubio and they already have Corey Brewer who is similar to Jimmy.
The one thing I would say is everybody gets overrated including Thibs and Love. Both have their limitations on what they can do and need help to execute. I don't believe Thibs can help Love become a defender which teams will not take advantage off(like how opponents have attacked Boozer) and Love is someone who is not as great as his stats are.
But, Love definitely is needed for the Bulls.

Ok well yea if he agreed to sign you could trade for him, but I have doubts that he would come out so early and say which team he will only sign with.

The best defenses on LeBron have been team defenses, not individual though.
JImmy is never going to stop LeBron and neither is Taj.

I misread. But when is the last time Taj started for a full year? So again, you wouldn't trade Taj, Butler 2 late picks for an All Star 25 year old PF who can score and rebound?

Even though Jimmy played great defense on LeBron last year in the playoffs, and got a lot of recognition, its not like he stopped him or anything. This was LeBron's stats in the series:
23.6 Pts, 7.0 Reb, 7.8, Ast, .573 TS%
And he used to do even better vs Deng.

Re: The Kevin Love Thread: Update PG. 67, 78
Remember when we thought Luol Deng's individual defense was central to our "team identity." And somehow statistically, Chicago was better without him on defense after the trade. If that doesn't tell you individual defense doesn't matter, then I don't know what will. As long as you have a coach who knows how to scheme properly, everything will fall in place. The Thibodeau's, Clifford's, Skiles, and Popovich's of the world are known for churning out elite defenses in their sleep with players who can't defend a brick wall.
