That article barely scratched the surface as to why Jennings is absolute garbage. He can't shoot, nor can he finish around the rim. His shooting form is absolutely broken, as all of his energy behind the shot is from the upper body and not from the legs. He is clearly incapable of finishing layups with either hand, as he will almost always use his right hand to score.
His assist numbers are clearly padded, as he tends to hog the ball more when Detroit is losing (increased usage % in losses, and increased assists in wins). He has no clear idea of what protecting a lead is, or valuing the time left in a game. He will take the same low percentage shots, and pass to low percentage shooters in bad spots regardless of the situation. His shots are essentially the same as live-ball turnovers when he can't finish around the rim, or he takes an ill-advised long jumper.
Defensively, let's not even go there. He's a net negative on both sides of the floor. Jennings can't play shooting guard or any other position with any sort of increased efficiency unlike Josh Smith. Smith has a higher chance of being salvageable next season in contrast to Jennings for this sole reason.
Sure, Brandon has a ton of upside, due to his age, however his life decisions indicate that he's not very critical of his own game to seek improvement. Why would he listen to anyone else's suggestions? He skips college to go overseas, and he prefers to play in the Drew League instead of actually hiring some help to focus on areas of weaknesses in his game. Jennings is a knucklehead with no backbone to boot, which he confirmed by deleting his twitter after criticizing LeBron's leg cramping the other night.
Detroit just needs a game manager at the point guard position. Not an elite superstar, but someone that isn't a complete idiot with little professional skill. He's a street baller at best right now.
