Definitely agree. Based on their success, I'd imagine these are pretty smart guys we have here. I'm sure they put a little thought into how they would respond to questions they anticipated being asked by the media/public. They're not going to be careless.

I think people are overthinking this. On a whirlwind day, where the owners are exposed to hundreds (?) of different fans, they more than likely just answered the question open and honestly from their personal preference at that time.

Since then, we know they are meeting with Hammond and team to have the full scouting reports provided to them, along with the team recommendation which they will bless or not.

I am sure Hammond is going to lay out all the possible scenarios, which probably includes options like trading down, trading up, etc. My long way of saying, I don't think they have gotten to the point yet of outsmarting all the other GMs just yet with misdirection.

maybe Philly actually wants Parker and them wanting Wiggins at all costs is a smokescreen

take EVERYTHING you hear leading up to the draft with a grain of salt

I really doubt we could squeeze anything out of Philly, they need their picks. Look at their roster. They're not trading up. They basically are a d-league team outside MCW and Noel who missed a year with a blown out knee.

We pick #2, there isn't really any reason to fret about 'tipping our hand'. I have to imagine most people here that are upset about that are more upset that Lasry/Edens doesn't prefer their guy than being too open about who they like.

I disagree. It is very important for any of the top teams to not tip their hand. We have no clue how in love Philly is with a prospect. By knowing who we want they could potentially jump us to get him or we could miss out on assets if they thought we would nab their favorite at #2.

What difference does it make if Philly or Cleveland makes the pick? We still pick #2. I can almost say with certainty that Philly won't be trading up so I'm not too worried. Parker is thought of in higher regard than Wiggins anyways amongst the league's GMs, maybe keep that in mind too about possible smokescreens. There isn't anything to worry about.

I'm hoping the Bucks are trying to entice the Cavs to draft someone other than whoever we want most.

Cleveland has a win now mandate and Jabari Parker would help out the most soonest. Wiggins is also more of a win now player than Embiid.

This is why I've started moving in the direction of thinking Embiid might really be our target.

If his back checks out, one of the only teams in the league who might be dumb enough to pass on him in order to win now (and appease the likes of Kyrie Irving) would be the Cavs.

Because dudes that size shouldn't move like that and we're going to miss out on him by one pick.

Can't check it out at the moment. Depressing because he didn't look good or depressing because he looked awesome and we probably won't get him? I'm assuming the latter.

Edit: Nevermind. I see now that you've answered this already.

look I know how most of this board loves embiid and I understand a lot of you feel hes the BPA,and I know im way in the minority but if im drafting 1 or 2 or 3 in the draft I want a stud who will give me 30 plus minutes a night a guy who will give me 18 points a game, not a guy who some of you on here have said he might only play 20 minutes a night his first year.
To me I don't want my top pick to be a part time player

Why is Oden constantly being brought up when somebody mentions Embiid? Oden was a gimp from birth. Portland did a piss poor job evaluating his health.
