Very nice. The biggest difference between Lewis and Battier is that Lewis can actually score in the paint and exploit mismatches occasionally in pick and roll situations.

He had a rather effortless 14pts (3-7 from 3s) game last night, whereas Battier has to go like 6-8 from 3 to have a 18 point game usually, and the odds of that happening are rather small and should not be counted on in the finals.

I laugh when people try to make it sound like I hate Lewis for hating him...Lewis all year has been terrible. At times he was forced minutes when his play did not warrant the reward. Like Wade, Bosh or any player, when they are playing terrible, I call them out. When they play good, I give credit. Lewis was terrible for 2 years on the team and I hated him for it. But in the last 4 games, Lewis has been huge and I'm happy to see him being part of the run. I mean.....Spo needs to be rewarded for his faith in Lewis. Lewis didn't deserve alot of what he has been given but he is making it worth it with his play as of late.

  um you do hate Lewis...I'm not going to waste my time going over your post history but the "Let's Not Lewis", you bringing up the "stat sheet" last series whenever people said Lewis was a good defender on David West...It's obvious that Lewis is the new Joel Anthony to you

Nope .. have to go with GT3 on this one. He just hates anyone he thinks should be playing more than the "coach" does. So in this case it was Beasley who got marginalized .. hence the Lewis hate. I'm sure on a different team there would be no hate.

That said .. it was beyond hilarious how posters with repetitive "spo <<<<<<<<<<<<< pop" & "team/system >>>>>>> talent/no system" posts on the GT just fell silent when the tide turned in the least few minutes of the game yesterday, and then came on to the PG thread and acted like those previous posts never happened

Agreed. Too many posters on here who make rash negative comments and then don't show some humility later. They're more likely to simply do the same thing the next time someone misses a shot or has a bad game.

That's why I take regular breaks from the board apart from throughout the playoffs.

I will be taking a break from this board & the NBA in general after this series, regardless of the outcome...Hopefully my break will start after another parade on Biscayne Blvd :D

Wade deserved the fine I don't think anyone here will really defend that but San Antonio flops way more then Miami.

I would still take Pop over Spo and anyone who can't see that isn't watching. Pop has a system that makes Boris Diaw and a 37yr old Duncan playing great. All the pieces in SAS make it work, while our key piece make it work. Take out Manu and Spurs keep going(He hasn't been good). Take out Ducan as he wasn't great in the 4th and they are still competitive. Take our Tony and they just use someone else. Miami rely on their stars to make the system work.

To Lewis point..
Im you do hate Lewis...I'm not going to waste my time going over your post history but the "Let's Not Lewis", you bringing up the "stat sheet" last series whenever people said Lewis was a good defender on David West...It's obvious that Lewis is the new Joel Anthony to you

When people stated Lewis stopped West I showed you reason why it wasn't true? How is that hating? So if someone has an opinion and facts show it as just that, that means its hating? Lewis for 2 years has been a pretty bad and while he has been great for 4 games, does that mean my hate for him before was warranted? Joel Anthony never had the moments that Shard is having so its funny that you can't see the difference between 2 players that were terrible. I've given Shard is due...

Are you calling Duncan soft ?
Cause he's off balance more than half of the time, and he doesn't really "bang down low" anymore.

The "Soft Bosh" narrative is bull.
It started in Toronto, and when he came to the Heat he was considered by most fans (and most fans are idiots) a bad defender. Because they never saw him play and they knew Toronto had bad defense, so they assumed he was a bad defender. In fact, he defended Dwight very well in their 1-1 matchups when Dwight was at his athletic peak. But Toronto had HORRIBLE coaches, and they are to blame for the **** defense.

And now, that he was asked to play on the perimeter, to lose weight and bulk, of course he can't play inside a lot anymore. Of course he gets easily thrown off balance. Doesn't mean he's soft. You can be rail thin and tough as nails.

But I am sure all the keyboard warriors talking **** about him know a lot about toughness.

I think fans would call Hakeem soft today, because he didn't go through people but around them.

Duncan is bullying us in the paint, so not sure which games you're watching, but comparing a 38 year old Duncan who is nearing retirement to a 30 year old Bosh in his prime is pretty desperate.

I also never called him a bad defender in general, just claimed he's soft based on his own comments.

Have you seen Duncan against a real C ?
Have you seen him in any game other that against Miami ?
He gets off balance A LOT and shoots a bunch of mid range shots.

But let's ask 82games.com settle this:

Duncan shoots 63% jump shots.
Pau Gasol, another supposed softie, shoots only 58% jumpers.

And let me repeat something, in case it wasn't clear:
Just because he shoots mostly J's doesn't mean he's soft.
Karl Malone took a ton of J's.
Also, was Reggie Miller soft ? Cause the only time you remember him going to the rim is when he got blocked by Tayshaun Prince.

Looks to me like ginobili got wade on the left hand on the flop call but wade pretended like he got hit in the face.

Reggie Miller was soft as s***, no doubt about it.

And at this point the midrange jumper is more Duncan's game because at age 38, he simply doesn't have the physical abilities he used to have anymore. Posting up costs a lot of energy and takes a toll on your body and since he has to preserve it as much as possible, he adjusted his game accordingly. But even at that age, I see him abuse us down low. If we put a guy like Danny Green on Tim Duncan, he'd murder us. They put Danny Green on Bosh and he manages to keep him out of the paint by himself.

And no, if a big is good at shooting jumpers he should take them, it's not an automatic sign of being soft. But if a big gets pushed around in the post, struggles in his post-ups, struggles to keep other bigs out of the paint for rebounds, struggles to defend the post properly and if a big admits that he doesn't wanna bang because it gets tiring, then he's soft.

He has other great strengths, his outstanding pick and roll coverage due to his great lateral quickness for a big man, his good perimeter defense for a guy his size in general, his good help defense due to his quick feet, all these are essential qualities to our success, so I don't really get why you have your panties wet over him being labeled soft.

Dude, why are you so thick ?
He can't bang anymore and gets tired BECAUSE HE WAS ASKED TO LOSE WEIGHT AND DID THAT.
In losing weight, he also lost bulk, lost muscle mass.

If you have to push a taller, heavier guy all game long and fight him for position, damn right it gets tiring.
Have you ever played ball where you had to REALLY defend taller, heavier guys ? Somehow I doubt it.

Damn right you'd rather not do it. Especially since you're asked at the same time to defend the perimeter and make 3's. Look at how Battier got destroyed over the course of a couple of seasons of playing undersized PF. He was so broken down that he couldn't even make his 3's anymore. Wide open ones, too.

So before he lost weight Bosh was some sort of bruiser and banger? Even if he spent more time in the paint then, he simply wasn't good at it because he's not a physical player.
Haslem has managed to be an undersized guy who can bang down low and play within our system for years. Bosh just isn't the same type of dude.
