Somebody spill the beans on this new intel from around the league. I actually signed up for the magazine subscription just to get insider, but it hasn't arrived yet. :D

Just curious as to how much work you think has to be put in by a 19 year old kid with high metabolism to be able to run faster and jump higher than everyone else? I'd say it has to do with genes FAR more than it does work ethic. Many here state that you can't teach Wiggins athleticism and that's their case for him over Parker. The argument can't go both ways.

Here's one authority on the subject who believes the ability to jump high is a learned skill:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/whos-joe-a ... --nba.html

Alexander is an extraordinary leaper, a dunker that has reached a cult celebrity on YouTube. He is grateful and all, but no one has to tell him that that the intrigue is constructed around the color of skin, the phenomenon that comes with a white guy who balances such strength and a sweet shot, with a 40-inch vertical leap, with an ability to fly from just inside the free-throw line for lean-in dunks.

Alexander lifted weights and skipped rope and wore those jumping shoes. And then he did it again, and again, and again.

“I could never jump really high until I worked really hard on my jumping,” Alexander said. “I was never quick until I worked on being quick. Same thing with speed and strength. A lot of kids think they’re born with great leaping ability. I still hear people today say that I was born with great athleticism. That’s not the truth at all. I’ve been working at it with a good deal of structure for nine years.

“That’s why I can hit my head on the rim.”

There you have it. To be able to hit your head on the rim, you have to work at it. I suppose the same thing applies to throwing the ball through the rim, but we'd probably have to find a different expert for that. Probably not Wiggins. Maybe Parker.

8 Marcus Smart Sacramento Kings
The Kings also are listening to offers for their pick (apparently no one shops their picks anymore they just listen). If they can get someone who can play right now, they'll likely go that direction. They've shown interest in the Minnesota's Kevin Love, but have also lowered their sights for players like the Atlanta's Dennis Schroeder, and I'm told they also like Milwaukee's Brandon Knight.

However, if Smart is on the board here he'll be tough to pass. He's the perfect fit for a coach like Mike Malone. And don't count out Elfrid Payton here. He's coming off a terrific workout in Sacramento. If Smart is off then board, he's a possibility.

So Henson and Knight for #8 is actually realistic? :D

ETA: And FWIW I doubt Smart will fall to 8 regardless.

One thing I find confusing is that everybody talks about how ready Parker is to contribute, but nobody talks about how Exum's game is tailor made for the NBA. This is a league that rewards penetration and that's all Exum does.

Just want to warn you guys to be patient with whoever we take, because there are going to be a lot of times during this first season when you're going to wonder how a team with no shot creators and no 2 guard could pass on Exum.

I would feel bad Kings fans if we swindled them like that...wait actually I wouldn't feel bad one bit.

Also, I'd bet a lot on Smart not falling all the way to 8.

I know the Kings are dumb but they'd have to want more than just Knight for 8 wouldn't they? :)

Nice...a not so subtle jab at people that don't have Embiid as their #1. If you don't have Embiid, you are an ignorant casual fan. Get over yourself man.

Polls from GM, Scouts and Players have repeatedly showed Parker being the #1 or at the very least in contention.

The Embiid-elites on the board are getting a little too wrapped up in the hype they have been generating. He is certainly a good player, and I"ll be happy if he lands on the Bucks for sure...but just keep an open mind that other people have different opinions, even if you think they are wrong.

The people who allegedly know better have at various times ranked Wiggins, Embiid and Parker as the No. 1 pick in this draft.

I was responding to someone who said this had been the Andrew Wiggins' draft because EXPERTS for the last two years. The experts have been favoring Embiid since the calendar rolled into 2014.

This is the Cavs organization in a nutshell.

This is the team we're sitting behind at #2.....ANYTHING can happen with #1.

It would not shock me to see them do something insane.

2 Jabari Parker Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks appear to be intrigued with all four players here: Embiid, Parker, Wiggins and Australian point guard Dante Exum.

If Embiid goes No. 1, I think Parker will likely get the nod here. While new ownership has made it clear that they are OK with GM John Hammond fully engaging the rebuilding process, the reality is that the team needs to draft a player who can help now. Parker is the most NBA ready of the group and gives them a go to scorer who likely would be slotted to play the 4 between Larry Sanders and Giannis Antetokoumnpo.

If Parker isn't on the board, Embiid has intrigued the team for a while. Given his offensive prowess (and Sanders utter lack thereof) they feel he's a good fit. Of course, as the Bucks keep breaking down tape, they keep getting more excited about Wiggins. They fly to Santa Barbara, Calif., this week to watch Wiggins workout. It will be interesting to see if that sells the Bucks on him. Exum is the wild card. The team gets him in for a workout this weekend. They'd really like to upgrade the point and move Brandon Knight to the 2. If Exum wows in the workout, he could move to the top of their board. i think he fits their biggest need.

Things I like:
- Ford is sensing (at least the potential) of some positive Wiggins momentum within the organization
- The team is open to Exum and could become more interested after the workout
- The reiteration that Knight is not a PG!!!

Things I don't like:
- Parker :D

What would we target at #8 if we moved Knight for that pick? I personally like Knight and would be sad to see him go.
