If the Kings seriously are considering Knight for 8 there's no need to include Henson in my opinion. The seconds should be more than enough additional compensation.

I'll qualify all this by saying Hammond has tried consistently to acquire additional first-round picks in the draft but he's never done it yet. So I'm not filled with confidence he'll get it done this year.

If Exum fell to 7 or 8 and we traded Knight to get that pick. Fap.gif

I think you get #8 for Knight and then offer Henson+8 to the Magic for #4 or something like that.

Yeah that sounds more realistic, but would still be a no brainer imo. If we ended up with Embiid and Exum. :o

Exum, Middleton, Giannis, and then try the twin towers of Embiid and Sanders.

If the twin towers fail, send Sanders packing and take one of the top 5 or 6 PF/C's that will go in the lottery next year.

That would be sheer stupidity. Yes, the draft is a crapshoot. Yes, #8 could turn into a Joe Alexander caliber player. But I know what Brandon Knight brings to the basketball court. No competent GM would turn down #8 for him.

We aren't getting the 4th pick for just Knight and Henson.

What if the owners have been down with Exum this whole time? Smokescreen terminology "top 3", leave out Exum. Wishful thinking or does it go along with their previous line of work?

*Not to rain on the acquire Embiid + Exum parade. If we can only get Exum.

Can you imagine if Hambone, as his farewell gift, managed to turn a RFA Baddy into Vonleh or Smart?!?

I'm actually excited to see what Hammond does in 16 days. For better or worse, drafting has been the strongest part of his tenure here. Can he acquire another 1st rounder? Can he move Knight or Ersan for an actual asset? #HammondUnleashed!

I'll be giddy if we just take Exum at 2, much less landing another high lotto guy. I'm not buying the smokescreen stuff though and have pretty much accepted that we'll end up with Parker or Wiggins.

I'm not quite on board with what you wrote. I'd take Embiid #1 or #2 and not look back.

Where I'm siding with Wiggins is when it comes down to Jabari v. Wiggins. There I see a tie, but am giving the tie to Wiggins based on what people saw in him the last three years. I don't think the scouts missed with Wiggins, even though some are having second thoughts on him now.

I thought you were talking about Wiggins and Embiid when you made that analogy. I'm pretty sure that was the context of our discussion at the time since we were discussing how Wiggins (like Paul) was No. 1 for such a long time only to have new flavors replace him later (Bogut/Marvin like Embiid). If not, my apologies for misrepresenting your point.

The more I watch the Spurs and Heat play, the less I want Parker.

I can't imagine Parker (or even Melo) fitting in on either team. Both teams value passing/ball movement and MIA especially likes athleticism for Defense.

If Parker or Melo was in the series, what would their role be? Obviously they could not play the Lebron, Parker, Duncan, Manu, or Lenard roles. They lack the teammate shot creation and vision of Parker/Lebron/Manu and are far inferior defensively to Duncan or Lenard. The closest I can think of is that of a Chris Bosh role who stands in the corner/elbow to create spacing and then occasionally shoots a Wide Open shot generated by the team's Star. Even then, they likely would be inferior to Bosh who is likely better defensively than Parker/Melo, a better rebounder than Parker/Melo, and more content as a 3rd Option.

Contrastingly, I could easily see Embiid playing a Duncan role, Wiggins at worst in a Lendard role, or Exum in a Parker or Manu role.

I'm not a Melo fan but he is an elite talent. If he was on the Spurs, I think Pop would figure out a way to make it work. Both the Heat and Spurs have players who are better than Melo. That's never been the case for him on any other team. Even stars like Melo can adapt when they're on a team with clearly superior talents. I don't see Melo crossing Duncan in San Antonio or LeBron in Miami. They'd keep him in line.

I am sure Parker is not your #1, but assuming that he was, would that mean you would be drafting 'best fit' over best player?

We aren't getting the 4th pick for just Knight and Henson.

Knight for #8 makes a lot of sense for the Kings. If they draft Elfrid he is 2-3 years away from being a starting playoff caliber player. After the All-Star break Knight averaged 20pts/5ast. If the Magic can move from 4 to 8 and still get Smart while adding a player like Henson why wouldn't they. Henson is very underrated. He has the potential to be a longer Taj Gibson, and the Magic have a history of taking our underutilized players and making something out of them. Is it probable? Nope. But heck as long as we are dreaming, lets give the Lakers Larry (+Middleton?) for #7 too and end up with Exum/Smart/Giannis/Parker and we haven't traded Ersan yet...

Actually was talking about Wiggins v. Parker. No problem in the misunderstanding. With you not being around here much the last six-months you've missed me being on the Embiid train since about December 15th. I think he's a better prospect than Anthony Davis was and if he stays healthy will be a better pro. The health concerns are legit though.

I think the poster above brings up an interesting point in that regard. Think back to those Piston teams of 20-25 years ago. Adrian Dantley and Mark Aguirre. Both guys were important to the Pistons winning those titles, but arguably they took a backseat the Isiah/Dumars/Rodman/Laimbeer quartet.

I only take Jabari if I think he's going to be much better than Carmelo, i.e. become one of those transcendant all around players versus the 22-24ppg no defense SF.
