Noah Vonleh Thread [Merged]

4Noah VonlehOrlando Magic (23 - 59)COLLEGE: IndianaHT: 6-10WT: 247POS: PF
We've consistently had the Magic taking a point guard at No. 4. They've been high on both Exum and Marcus Smart all year. Smart already has come in for a workout, and Exum is scheduled to arrive next week for his. But the Magic might end up opting to go another route.

The team really needs a power forward and Vonleh looks like a great fit next to Nikola Vucevic on the front line. His shot blocking on the defensive end plus his ability to stretch the floor on the other end is a perfect complement to Vucevic. with the several interesting point guards likely to be available at No. 12, the Magic might be able to get the best of both worlds.

Merged and edited title. -Dev

I quite like Vonleh. He's one of the few guys that seems to have a defined role in that part of teh draft. (stretch 4)

Other than that you are looking at a lot of combo and tweener types.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I like Vonleh at 6 or 7, but not at all at the 4 spot.

Ford is a moron. It'll be Smart or Exum.

I wouldnt be shocked if that was our pick, high character, high motor, humble, great work ethic, ridiculous wingspan, pretty raw, not very skilled.

Sounds a lot like Oladipo.

Chad Ford Quote from 2002 NBA Draft:
In the end, Denver just couldn't pass on Tskitishvili's upside. Some have predicted that he's three years away. I don't think so. We said the same thing about Pau Gasol last year. He's so sound fundamentally, I think he'll be just fine at small forward. Eventually, he'll put on weight and muscle and turn into a devastating four. In five years, he may be the Kevin Garnett of this draft.

Tskitishvili was out of the league in 4 years.

still early, and no reason for anyone to get worked up over mock drafts.

Vonleh is probably my least favorite prospect and wouldn't be excited if we drafted him. However, I trust our management fully and would support whatever outcome we get.

We do need a shot blocker badly and we could use some scoring at the 4 spot. If we do make this our guy at #4 then we absolutely have to take Payton at #12.

There is absolutely nobody but scrubs in this years free agency pool at the PF spot. (Outside of Bosh, Duncan, Gasol, and Z-Bo. All of which are not coming here)

This very well could be our guy at # 4.

I have watched his highlights and I want to compare him to Nicholson with less post moves. I would rather trade down and take Gordon.

thats kind of what i am feeling as well, but that being said if we take him at 4 i will feel like **** until proven otherwise as opposed to the other way around if we pick a guy like Exum, Smart, Randle, Embiid, Wiggins or Parker.

If the Magic don't see much difference between Payton, Exum, and Smart, this isn't a bad idea.

You know, the Nicholson comparison has been in my head for weeks now; I just never wanted to say it. Vonleh seems like a more athletic, better defensive potential, worse offense, Nicholson. And because of that, is why i'm not as high on him as most.

You want to know why I personally believe that we PROBABLY WON'T take Vonleh?

Because you always draft Best Player Available. Vonleh is neither higher in upside than Exum, nor ready to contribute like Smart.

Just my opinion.

If we want vonleh, u have to trade down with Utah (once again) and get some assets on the way.

Then go HARD after smart, something like AA+12+future 1st for him

This would make for a nice Combo with Vonleh and Nicholson sharing the PF position depending on matchups throughout the games.
