I'm not advocating taking Smart at #2 or saying that he'll be better than the undisputed top 3 in this draft. My question is asking how anybody could rank Exum above Smart let alone rank him above any of the top 3.
Appealing to authority is a fallacy, saying that he's a top pick because mock drafts and "scouts" say so is a laughable argument. What does he do better than Smart?

I know what's been reported, that it isn't even necessarily true that he prefers Philadelphia. But presuming he does prefer Philly, and in actuality doesn't want to goto Milwaukee. These players don't want to hurt their credibility at this stage of the game by coming out and saying that they don't want to be with a particular team, in the open.
They'll convey their lack of desire with their language and actions. See what Exum had to say at the combine, if his agent and he decided that team's didn't fit their needs, then they would create a strategy to make that team avoid picking them. Not coming to Milwaukee for the workout will appear more of a red flag if he goes to Philly for their workout and Cleveland for the Cavs.
I don't like the idea of passing on Wiggins if he indeed sends mixed messages to the organization. I don't want any of these players to do that. It's annoying when they do. But it's a potential reality, whether I like it or not.
DanoMac wrote:But when you start taking things like "he doesn't want to come to Milwaukee because the Bucks had to go Santa Barbara for his workout" or "he's dogging it in his workouts" or even "he wants to go to Philly" then you start making very dangerous assumptions.
Based on everything that's been reported, including words from Wiggins' mouth himself, I don't think we have anything to worry about as far as his desire and commitment to the Bucks.
DukeH wrote:Plenty, RealGM Bucks Board is the Golden Dawn of forums.
Wiggins, Parker and Embiid all are in the mix here. On lottery night, a Cavs source told me that they had Parker ranked highest on their board all year because of his ability to come in and make an immediate impact and believe Embiid has the most upside of anyone in the draft and fits a long-term need for them. However, the source felt that Wiggins in the end would be the compromise pick -- someone who has both elite upside as well as a player who can play (especially defensively) impactful minutes right out of the gate.

A quick first step doesn't make an NBA player, Jennings has a quick first step too and where has that gotten him?
Well, Jennings is a huge pussy at the rim. Exum is Ginobli-like crafty at the rim. Just stop.
Comparing a 18 year old who has done nothing to one of the most unique players in NBA history means nothing to me, I'll believe that when I see it. Juking out out Australian high schoolers who can't compete with you physically just isn't that impressive to me.

What about bringing up a hypothetical is a dangerous assumption? There's presumption present but in no way have I implied that I think it's infallible. There's also the element of interaction between the organization and Wiggins that we'll have no contact with, which would be even more suggestive of his desire to be with the club.
All I did was present a possibility.
Well he's going to Philly next week.
JayMKE wrote:UWM_Brew_Buck wrote:JayMKE wrote:maybe Philly actually wants Parker and them wanting Wiggins at all costs is a smokescreen
take EVERYTHING you hear leading up to the draft with a grain of salt
I really doubt we could squeeze anything out of Philly, they need their picks. Look at their roster. They're not trading up. They basically are a d-league team outside MCW and Noel who missed a year with a blown out knee.
We pick #2, there isn't really any reason to fret about 'tipping our hand'. I have to imagine most people here that are upset about that are more upset that Lasry/Edens doesn't prefer their guy than being too open about who they like.
I disagree. It is very important for any of the top teams to not tip their hand. We have no clue how in love Philly is with a prospect. By knowing who we want they could potentially jump us to get him or we could miss out on assets if they thought we would nab their favorite at #2.
What difference does it make if Philly or Cleveland makes the pick? We still pick #2. I can almost say with certainty that Philly won't be trading up so I'm not too worried. Parker is thought of in higher regard than Wiggins anyways amongst the league's GMs, maybe keep that in mind too about possible smokescreens. There isn't anything to worry about.

Smart got to the line 8 times a game, shot 65% in the paint on the season, averaged 5 asts per game, and...."Over the final eight games, Smart averaged 19.3 points, 6.2 assists, 6.6 rebounds and 4.5 steals."
Yea he sucks.

Those are impressive stats, though I'm sure they will b overlooked by the exum lovers.
For the record I would love to see exums stats
I'm sure exum has says like that and adding to that smart is one of the best D guys in this draft.Yet cause exam has a quicker first step he's the second coming of Jordan while smart to a lot of this board stinks wow
