stauskus vs harris - head to head

Good video, and shows what I like (and don't like) about both players.

Nik is deadly when he gets going from deep and has a lightining quick release. Harris' pressure defense didn't even matter sometimes, as Nik would just rise and fire over him. When Nik gets in a zone, there's no one that can guard him. That said, Harris did frustrate him almost every time he tried to take it to the rim and picked his pocket a few times.

Conversely, Harris blew by Nik the few times Beilein was dumb enough to match them up. Harris made Nik look like he was playing with ankle weights on. I don't think Nik is a bad defender, but he's certainly not a good one. That said, I still think his defensive shortcomings are a little overblown.

Lots to like about both players, and both have some skill sets we desperately need -- shooting and scoring. I'd be perfectly happy with either one.

A bruised right shoulder prevented former Michigan guard Nik Stauskas from working out with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.

The injury was only a minor setback, though, according to his agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports and Entertainment.

Bartelstein said Stauskas would have been limited had he worked out in Los Angeles on Wednesday, thus prompting the decision to hold him out. That meeting is rescheduled and, according to Bartelstein, Stauskas will be "back to 100 percent" by the end of the week and inflammation in the shoulder has subsided.

That's good news for Stauskas. Next week will be a busy one.

Per Bartelstein, Stauskas will work out for the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday and Boston Celtics on Friday. A date for the meeting with Los Angeles hasn't been finalized, but a work out for the Lakers is expected.

So, it was a bruised shoulder that kept Stauskas out of the Lakers workout. I was wondering why he canceled at the last moment. I thought maybe he had some kind of weird promise ahead of schedule that made him back out

The Bull are trying to trade up to 11 for Stauskas or Harris. This is why we can't trade back with the Magic.

They can take pick 24 + Hendo or get lost.

I'm starting to think that Nik could be the pick for us at 9.

You know when organizations like the Bulls move to package multiple 1st round picks in a deep draft to grab an immediate impact player and they're leaning Stauskas you know the guy is special. And the Bulls are gunning for 11th to get him, which is dangerously close. 9 is a really good spot to be for him.

I honestly believe, outside the top 4, he's the best player in the draft.

So that makes Harris "special" as well? Because the report said they are targeting Stauskas or Harris.

They're said to be leaning Stauskas. But yeah if the Bulls are targeting someone I think it speaks volumes because they're well run right now. I don't believe in him but maybe Harris can be like Beal according to their scouts. Lots of their fans like Harris more than Stauskas.

Good haul if a top tier player doesn't slip to us. Worth a gamble.

Harris actually makes some sense for them b/c Rose is a tall Pg so Harris' lack of height is more moot.

The only thing that could make Harris special is the Rack.

Here is the interview of Stauskas after his Hornets workout

He talks about being able to step in and be a floor spacer for Kemba and Al immediately, keeping opposing defense honest, how he likes to make plays for his teammates, how he sees the court well and how all of this translates at the next level. I think his court vision and high IQ will allow him to adjust to the faster pace and it won't be long until the game slows down for him like it did Cody.

Sorry if some of this has already been posted.

Clifford, who enters his second year guiding the team, wouldn’t elaborate on what types of workouts he put Stauskas through, but the Hornets organization has emphasized hand size — testing to see how well players can pick up a ball with one hand.

“I just think it’s another evaluation in a different setting,” Clifford said. “You take it for what it’s worth. I think you have to be very careful about how much weight you put on one evaluation.”

Apparently the Kawhi Leonard hand size ordeal is in full effect throughout the league..

“I just think it’s another evaluation in a different setting,” Clifford said. “You take it for what it’s worth. I think you have to be very careful about how much weight you put on one evaluation.”

Where was this when we picked Zeller instead of Giannis Antetokounmpo?

Coach Clifford: “He’s an NBA player.”

“He’s very skilled. I think he’s more than a shooter, though. He can play in the pick-and-roll, but the big thing, to me, is that he has NBA size, which is a big deal. You have to have size, and he has really good size for his position.”

Too bad Harris doesn't have NBA size. Hopefully Clifford really means what he said and we pass on the 6'2 SG.
