Coincidence?

Post#1 » by tlifeset » Thu Jun 12, 2014 1:07 am

I'm just wondering if anybody else finds it odd that on the same day that there's news of Melo wanting to either 1) play with LeBron or 2) play with LeBron and Wade in Miami ... that the Lakers (or Lakers Mole) chooses to say they've trimmed their coach list down to Rambis, Gentry and Scott?

It seems to me that Rambis and Scott could be sold as TRUE LAKERS who can re-capture the Laker Way without the need of a big move like Melo. And Scott, obviously, could be a lure for players like Kyrie in 2015. But that doesn't help selling another crappy year in 2014.

Gentry? I'm at a loss for words ... didn't he immediately follow Dantoni in Phoenix too or am I just making that up? If they hire Gentry they clearly either know something we don't know OR know absolutely nothing. There's really no in between.

Feel free to discuss or lock it and call me a loon. This front office is starting to piss me off.

Pretty damn sure any player would look at those horrendous hires and have more reasons not to sign with us.

You are by far one of my favorites. Always so eloquent and thoughtful in your replies.

So, assuming you're in 3rd grade and I would need to completely spell this out, the COINCIDENCE is since the Lakers are announcing they have decided on three of those directions AND none of those directions really has any connection to Carmelo Anthony whatsoever that the Lakers have decided that they are out of the Melo Sweepstakes.

Let me run that back for you nice and slow... the Lakers announce their final 3 coaches COINCIDENTALLY on the same exact day Melo lets it be known that he wants to play with Lebron or in Miami ... which could be a coincidence or the opposite of coincidence which is PURPOSEFUL.

I also put a cool little question mark after the word COINCIDENCE in the subject heading. Do you need me to give you a lesson in punctuation too? Oh, sorry about that weird symbol at the end of the last sentence - you're probably confused.

Go to bed, son.

Even if Scott is hired, can't see Kyrie coming to LA anyways. He's close to signing an extension.

so clearly you have no idea what youre talking about. where have the lakers announced anything? and what would hiring any of these coaches have to do with us not going after melo? there would be asbolutely no indication that hiring these coaches means we arent going after melo or lebron, in fact, its the opposite. by hiring one of these treadmill coaches with so called "experience" it shows that the lakers still think its possible to contend with kobe and therefore they will try to get one of melo or lebron to help him.

if we were hiring a totally inexperienced coach then it would probably point to us not being in the melo/lebron sweepstakes, because why would melo/lebron want to come to a fresh situation like that? theyd want an established coach. it would also point to a full rebuild which melo certainly wouldnt be a part of.

so really, youve gotten this completely wrong.

Agreed with Doormatt. This increases our chances of signing Melo and Bron while using the stretch provision on Nash.

+1. i would think hiring an experienced coach would be a sign to potential free agents we are trying to win now, not rebuild.

Doormat, I just wanted to congratulate you on actually answering the question and engaging in intelligent discourse. I actually agree with you overall -- thus the reason i posed the question.

Michael Lucky, I'm neither a noob to this site or the english language - I think I make both pretty clear every time I come here and post. However, point taken, only noob would choose to engage in comments that literally have nothing to do with the question whatsoever. You're right the "Lakers" didn't announce anything, but they may have very well had someone else be their mouthpiece because it is being reported by every site that they've honed in on 3 finalists.

So back to the matter ... it's this thread's opinion that VETERAN COACH = TRYING TO LURE STARS. If that's the case, are there stars/players that you believe could potentially be tied to each one of these coaching candidates?

Who we hire as a coach isn't going to make our train wreck look any more lucrative as a championship destination right now.

We won't be getting LeBron, or Melo.

it makes no sense that because you agree with Doormat that basically there is no coincidence that you opened a thread asking if there is a coincidence.

it's like saying well I agree that the sky looks blue because it looks blue, but is it?

though technically the sky is black, but because the longest wave lengths in the color spectrum of sun light are blue they make the sky appear blue….well that argument went nowhere just like the thread

The only coincidence here is that just a day or two after a rumor comes out that the Lakers coaching search is being delayed because "we are looking to bring in Melo and Lebron. An even more ridiculous rumor is started by Brian Windhorst.

These thread are becoming very $%^&in annoying, specially when every week it has to do with Melo, N.Y P.J.

Can we just open one Melo thread and post everything like Coincidence, would Melo go for this and all the rest of the Melo ideas and nonsense in it.

Better yet how about we start a thread called N.Y N.Y and post all Melo, P.J, Fisher, Rick Fox conspiracy garbage in it!!

Wow I clicked this and wasted 2 minutes of breathing on this. I get the OP is trying to tie in a conspiracy but man that was like reaching for straws in the Pacific Ocean.
