Baron Davis is probably Smart's ceiling.

Baron Davis was a stud when healthy and motivated. Loved watching him destroy the Mavs under Nellie in the playoffs.

I think what it comes down to is whether you think Parker will be a transcendent scorer in the NBA. With his advanced skill set and versatility at such a young age, I have a difficult time not seeing him eventually become that.

paulpressey25 wrote:The Randle info from Woj is rather important. I had no idea the guy had a screw in his foot. He was already dropping over the past month, but this would likely cement him in the 7-10 range now, closer to 10th IMO.

A bad wheel, a mysterious stamina problem that limits his minutes, and he still leads the nation in double-doubles. I see some potential there.

A frontcourt of Sanders-Randle-Parker, while it has some posters wiping vomitus off their shoes, would IMO be the best young 3-4-5 combo in the NBA in three years. And for those who see defensive problems, I believe either a better conditioned Parker or even a healthy Randle could guard NBA threes, especially if backstopped by some Sanders rim protection. Randle's mobility and quickness have been badly underestimated throughout this long vetting process in part because of his Kentucky play. Look at the high schooler and you see someone likely to grow into someone comfortable with open-court play at the NBA level.

Joel Embiid is the BPA in the NBA 2014 Draft.

What do some of you think of Porzingis? I haven't seen much but if we could get a pick between 10-15 he would be an awesome gamble. Go big or go home

I never knew double-doubles were so important before reading Sidney's posts.

Hornets Davis was incredible even with that knee brace he played with. I don't think Smart is nearly as explosive as Davis was though, but if someone from the future told me Smart is like young Davis, I'd use many assets to acquire him.

His mechanics are quite good all in all! I still really want this kid!

If Marcus Smart is available at 7 or 8, I have a hard time seeing even win-now teams like the Lakers and the Kings being excited about Brandon Knight over him.

Sanders, Henson, or some other asset would probably have to be a highly valued part of that deal to make it happen.

You would think that the Kings would be leery of the combined attitudes of Sanders and Cousins. To even consider him, their penultimate goal would have to be setting up Demarcus so his defensive shortcomings don't prevent him from achieving superstar status.

I'm not sure if they view Henson in that kind of light but it'd be great if they would no doubt.

That was one of my favorite playoff series. Easy for me to say now but before that series started I was convinced the Warriors would beat the Mavs. I should have put money on it.

Agreed on those Hornets, Mash, PJ Brown, Magloire, Wesley, etc was a fun team to watch.

 The guy is bizzaro Jennings...great at finishing at the rim, great defender, tries hard, draws fouls, size... basically everything this board has wanted in a PG for years. As far as the Davis comparision... I agree Smart's first step isn't close to B Diddy's, but they both used their size to their advantage including a post game, so I can see that comparison.

Man, those Hornets series of 2000-2001...7 games. I literally danced in the streets of Milwaukee when we pulled that one out. Mashburn and Brown used to kill us. What ever became of Lee Nailon? :o

Kawhi shows up all 3 years of his career. George shows up once for this past year.

man do i hate per minute projection stats sometimes.

i could be thrown into an nba game, hit a lucky 3 in 1 min and be benched right away and i'd be averaging 108 points per 36.

and as far as that list goes, ryan anderson is on there twice, is he > paul george?

Thats why I filtered it down so that each player played at least 15 minutes per game.
You can sort it down even more if you want. Here is a minimum of 50 games played and 20 mpg played.

It still the same story basically but eliminates a few outliers.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft201 ... ects-tiers

Tier 1

Joel Embiid
Jabari Parker
Andrew Wiggins

Last year, we didn't have any player in this category. This category is usually reserved for guys who are sure-fire All-Stars or "franchise" players. Since 2009, only Griffin, John Wall and Davis have been ranked in this slot. This year, there are three players in Tier 1 -- as many as there have been in the last five years combined. All of them received Tier 1 votes from every GM, exec and scout I surveyed. So if there is any consensus out there, it's that there are three really great prizes in this year's draft.
