I hope Ghana pulls off something spectacular and goes through. I really like Ayew.

Rooting for Germany and USA to pass. I really like what Klinsmann is doing with the national team.

The only way that the US gets out of this group is if Ronaldo gets hurt and Germany wins its first two games. We manage to advance by beating a demoralized Portugal squad and Germany's bench players. Probably still lose to Ghana, because of course we will.

People are funny when it comes to Portugal.

If Ronaldo plays well and we win, we are dependent on Ronaldo.

If Ronaldo doesn't play well and we still win, people are always talking about how he didn't "show up" or whatever, they don't seem to give us any credit.

Tendonitis must be flaring up again. Sucks that he won't be his usual self for the duration of the World Cup.

This is going to be a fun group to watch.

Hopefully my country (Portugal) and USA can pass this group stage.
But it is almost impossible that happen.

Can some of the Germans here answer me why BILD always leaks the Germany(and Bayern) starting Line up before big games?

I am more curious about, where you always get your Germans news that fast. Did you have some German class in high school or what? :ouch:

Nah i just heard that BILD confirmed that Lahm will play as a CM and Howedes in the defence.

I remember Guardiola being angry at them because they always announced the Starting XI days before games.

You dont see that in other countries.

U.S. has to and will beat Ghana. They'll draw Portugal because Portugal will be overrated like they always are.

I don't get where people are coming up with this overrated stuff- if anything we're underrated. People forget this Portugal side was there at Euro 2012, where they held WC holders and eventual winners Spain to a scoreless draw in the semi finals, only losing on penalties. Team chemistry is never a problem for us, and the US don't have players on the level of Coentrao, Pepe, or Moutinho, let alone the best player in the world. I like our chances.

Maybe, but you're still lucky, just to be in.

 Your entitled to that opinion. Luck is a subjective thing. The USA were "lucky" not to have to face a team with a player like Zlatan in qualification. We outscored our opponents to get here. Sure we could have done it in less matches, but then again, we qualified from Europe, while the US and Ghana qualified from groups of significantly less talented countries.

Well I just mean Portugal needed an extra play-in series, they didn't exactly come through the front door :)

Also, Ronaldo looks gimpy and the US has beaten Portugal before. I wouldn't be surprised by Portugal getting out of group stage, but it's not a sure thing.

And Germany is practicing on precisely 22mm grass... they are going to see 25mm grass and be tripping over their own feet

PS if you were qualifying out of CONCACAF we advance fewer teams so you would not have had an opportunity to play in :)

Lucky? They deservedly qualified for the World Cup. If anything like MoS said, Portugal is underrated. They gave Spain - one of the best if not arguable the best NT ever - nearly more than they could handle in 2012 and wouldn't allow them to play their tiki-taka style with the suffocating pressure they maintained throughout the game, until the start of the second half of ET.

In fact, I would argue that they're currently unlucky with their best player and 'coincidentally', the best player in the world being hurt and not fit on the biggest stage of all.

I thought Toni Kroos was that guy, given that those starting elevens were always leaked as long as he didn't play and all of a sudden there wasn't any leak before that semifinale against Italy.

Like I stated before in this thread, Jogi Löw has told everyone during yesterday's press conference that Lahm will most likely play at CM and Höwedes played LB during that final game of preperation.
So it's not like Bild stated something completely new.

The thing is, Even on a game he doesn't do ****, Ronaldo takes so much Attention from the other teams defense, that opens a lot of space for other players... If only Portugal had a real striker:(
