Rod Higgins has resigned!

Post#1 » by -Ian- » Fri Jun 13, 2014 4:34 am

Hornets team president steps down

The Charlotte Hornets today announced that Rod Higgins has stepped down as the team's President of Basketball Operations, effective immediately.

Higgins has been with Charlotte since 2007 when he was hired to replace Bernie Bickerstaff as general manager.

"I would like to thank Rod for his seven years of dedication to this organization," said Charlotte Hornets Chairman Michael Jordan. "Rod has been a consummate professional throughout his time with the team. Thanks to his hard work and commitment, we have an improved roster and we are poised for success in the future. Rod was of great help to me as I navigated my first four years as majority owner of this franchise. I wish him all the best."

Rich Cho will remain in his capacity as General Manager and assume responsibility for the team's basketball operations. He will report to Jordan and Vice Chairman Curtis Polk.

That's surprising. I suppose it could end up being a good thing. Weird timing though.

There had to have been a heated debate between Higgins & Cho that led to this as sudden and off guard as it is

Nice!

Although I know he's a good guy. Just want Cho to finally have full control of a team and see what he can do.

Part of me is really glad. And the other part of me is concerned by what Cho may do.

Very odd timing, right before the draft. Either Higgins knew his voice wasn't getting heard so instead of keep being embarrassed he just quit, or MJ asked him to step down because Cho wanted full control, or he resigned to spend time with his family (doubtful, that was a dream job, making millions to just consult basically and do the dirty work).

What about Gerald Henderson?

I don't really consider him part of the treadmill. I guess technically you could say that, but he never played in his rookie season and the tear-down started the next year, and only then did he ever get minutes. The true treadmill was 2006-2009 though, picking 8-10 every year.

Bonnell, you stupid **** turd you're supposed to be happy to know that the most important offseason in franchise history, maybe even Charlotte NBA history, doesn't have Rod Higgins making decisions about it. Wait, I'm talking about Brick Wrongell

resigns at midnight, right after a finals game, two weeks prior to the draft, coming off a good year, with two 1st round picks, after being seen all week at workouts. something fishy is going on.
