Let's Give Credit To The Spurs

Post#1 » by whitehops » Fri Jun 13, 2014 5:07 am

This thread might be posted a little early with the second disappointing loss so fresh, but honestly as bad as the heat have played you have to give the utmost credit to the spurs.

i will write a little disclaimer before my statement in that i have not seen too many historical teams but of the ones i have witnessed, the spurs are playing the highest level of basketball I've ever seen.

defensively they are amazing, they are working as a team and just have smart players all around. it helps that they have a very good interior defender in Duncan (who is even playing some defense on the perimeter this series) and a sensational perimeter defender in kawhi leonard.

their offense, however, is beyond words. from a pure basketball 'X's and O's' standpoint they play almost flawless offensively. it seems like every single player on the team is a great passer and shooter. combine that with constant movement, willing passing and just a great offensive system and not even the best defenses in the league can stop them. you know you've got it made when your center and like eighth best passer on the team (splitter) is consistently making touch passes for easy layups lol.

sorry if i made it sound like i was just gushing about the spurs, my point was only that the spurs are winning this series more than the heat are losing this series. i'm as bummed about the heat's disappointing show as any of you, but i can definitely appreciate the fact that the heat are losing to the best team I'VE ever seen. i just hope the heat make it competitive going forward.

PS i personally thought last year was the highest level of basketball we'd see for a while in the back-and-forth finals but i was wrong, it just happens to be one-sided this year.

They're basically playing perfect basketball on a very regular basis. For full quarters or halves of games, perfect. And their lapses are only a few minutes at a time and bring them down to the level of good or very good.

I am happy to give them credit for what they've done so far. We've been outcoached and outplayed.

We still have 3 games though. No team has ever turned a 3-1 deficit in the Finals. It will be so sweet to be the first.

This team loves drama too much.

Hard to give credit to a team that I feel like we should be beat

But we're not beating them and they're slicing us up like swiss cheese. They are literally making it look too easy especially with these two blowouts.

Shame. But it is what it is. Spurs are the better team so hats off to them. Heat better be conjuring up some voodoo or sacrificing some animals to come back from 3-1. Spurs still got to win 4.

I feel we should beat them too... but we're pretty blatantly outmanned rn. Not only that, our defensive scheme is being shredded like never before and our coaching staff isn't doing a damn thing about it.

I will congratulate them when they win this series because a championship is a championship...With that being said I just think our team as a whole has not played up to expectations...Especially on defense. HEAT have a culture of being a defensive team...This Heat team that i'm watching right now, don't even recognize them to be honest

That being said, the Spurs effort and execution has been far and away FLAT OUT better than ours, thus far at least. credit to them, but I will keep pulling for our great team that I love dearly to the bitter end... or perhaps with a heavy dose of luck to a jubilant & triumphant end.

The Spurs are really good and have been for decades. That said, they aren't 20+ pts better than the Heat. Sure as hell not talentwise. And it's not even 20 points over 4 quarters ... they are jumping out to 20 point leads in the first half and then simply toying with us the rest of the way. There haven't been 20 minutes of competitive basketball over the past 2 games combined.

Pat Riley better be sharpening his knives, because there needs to be a bloodletting when this series is over. Our players are fat and happy, and our head coach is nothing more than a prop.

All of the analytics said that the Heat were grossly outmatched to start the series. Spurs in 4 was a more probable outcome than Heat in 6. Yeah...it's that bad. The Spurs and Heat have equally explosive offenses bit he Spurs are also elite defensively.

Obviously I wanted the Heat to win but I knew we were outmatched and outclassed in this series so I was mentally prepared for this.

No way, this was one of the most lopsided Finals of the past 15 years. Miami maybe should have beaten them on paper, but Spurs were better in almost every facet of the game

Technically it's the most lopsided finals in NBA history in terms of point differential.

i didn't read every post in the game threads but what i did see was mostly focused on the heat's performance as opposed to spurs'. i simply wanted an arena to say some positive things about our opponents.

as for quoting those people, those 'credit them when win' comments just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason, i wasn't trying to be malicious about it.

Return to Miami Heat
