If I'm completely objective about the game, Croatia did get screwed on two/three several occasions, which is a shame, especially to the neutral fan because these officiating errors happened on the biggest stage of all.

Although I love him to death, Neymar could and perhaps should have gotten a red card. The dive by Fred was unacceptable and the decision to not count Perisic's goal was also somewhat questionable. Still very happy Brazil came away with the W though.

I still believe in Croatia's chances to advance.

Jordan never fully understood basketball. He had the lowest basketball IQ of any NBA "superstar" in history.

That is WC by definition. The team that better develops during the tournament - and is able to win playing bad football - wins it all, that's quite simple, and that's why Italy and Germany have 7 combined without having any sort of golden generation.

1) Yes, the team developing the best most of the time wins the tournament.

2) What? Just read the names on those 74 and 90 teams of Germany and tell my again that those weren't teams of a "golden generation".

didnt see all of the game, but i could see croatia making it out of the group stage. the way they put pressure on brasil early and forced errors was just great to watch.

@det

don't get upset. you dont want those '74 and '90 teams compared to "golden generations" like portugal or holland, do you? :-) I guess they weren't called golden generations back then
too many urkels on your team, that's why your wins low

1 match and we can already call Brazil champs. The refs are on a mission.

There have been plenty of golden generations by italy and germany, just term golden generation wasnt used until the portugal teams of late 90s-early 00s

Looks like Oscar was saving himself for the NT. What a performance.

Think it was more of a combination of Oscar being rested towards the end of the season, and Scolari not playing the defensive game that Jose played towards the end of the season.

No doubt he was tired, but I'm sure he took his foot off the pedal a bit too. I think both his and Jose's interviews near the end of the season suggested that as well. Only Brazilians to really excel this season were guys like Luis, Coutinho and Willian who were fighting to be selected.

Speaking of Willian, I hope he plays a bigger role for them. Hulk was really struggling yesterday.

I'm still pissed. The match so obviously fixed, I have already lost interest in the World Cup, Brazil is going to win this bull anyway. Then Fred can thank god once again for being rewarded 8 penalties in the final. The 2014 World Cup is going to end up in line with the 1934 edition.

I'm glad someone else noticed that. Talk about cognitive dissonance.

Thank you, Lord, for letting me win by cheating.

I like ranting! Don't even remember what I said about Real Madrid.

But in all seriousness, I wouldn't be surprised if some shady things are going on to benefit Brazil. Happens all the time. Remember how Italy and Spain were getting cheater against Korea?

I really doubt that a lot of the refs at the World Cup can handle the pressure and even more importantly the quality and the speed of play. That guy yesterday looked really like amateur that crumbled under the pressure of the home crowd.

It's called home field advantage. It happens every single WC. And this isn't something that is unique to football, it happens in every single sport.

That's not true, see the famous 1950 WC final for instance...

This time they can't afford a mass riot in case of a failure by the Brazilian team.. it's just "realpolitik", given the specific social situation in Brazil!

Don't really have a rooting interest, but why is Fred's dive for a penalty shameful and Modric's dive to draw a yellow card on Neymar (with lots of people saying he deserved a red) fine?

That's pretty easy to answer.

Because Neymar threw his elbow into Modric's face(which was a yellow card and nothing more) while Fred just fell down as if he was struck by lightning.

It's also a slight difference between a free kick about 30 meters away from goal and a penalty that decides the outcome of a game.
