For ****'s sake. As if Spain needed any penalties to win.

It's still a penalty even if Costa's foot was on top of the defender's leg. Defender still slid past and took the leg. Reckless slide challenge.

It was, but they would've scored sooner or later with the Dutch fielding so many inexperienced players.

Meh.

looks like Costa saw the tackle and planted his foot just a little late on the tackle. Eh, smart move I guess

Wasn't a penalty imo, Costa put his leg over the defenders and took a dive. Can't blame the ref though, I personally thought it was a penalty in normal time

Meh. A smart player can easily force the contact. If he puts the foot on the floor he has position and its a penalty. If he puts his feet over the guy that is takling he is the one fouling
But its a hard decision, i«ve seen worse

If the leg isn't planted then you can't "take the leg". Costa can't put his foot down on a defender's sliding leg no matter how bad of a tackle it is.

Glad Xabi got on the score sheet, but it's not a bookable offence, and definitely not a penalty.

Add me to the group who didn't think it was a pen. Costa did well to get the call though.

I didn't think it was a penalty either, but when a referee gifts a penalty after the **** that Fred pulled yesterday, this one was a no-brainer.

Penalty was soft as anything, but still - defender has to be more savvy than that. Absolutely clumsy.
