Do people really believe there is a drop-off after the first two players? Most people have three players in Tier 1.
Also, let's not act like the guys taken #2 always turn into solid players. The last 10 #2 picks were: Emeka Okafor, Marvin Williams, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Hasheem Thabeet, Evan Turner, Derrick Williams, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Victor Oladipo.
You're missing the point. There is a higher probability at 2 than there is at 10. That's the point. Quality over Quantity. And Wiggins is not in the top tier for me, though many here already know that.
Obviously, there's a higher probability. But it isn't just #10, it's #3 and #10. If you're saying the Sixers should trade #10, plus some other assets excluding the #3 pick (and probably Noel and MCW), then we agree with each other. If you're saying the Sixers should trade #10, along with #3 (or Noel or MCW), that's where we don't have a meeting of the minds because you are ignoring the value of the other assets.

It wasnt a thread itself but it was in a thread. Thats kind of irrelevant becausd Embid is not our guy. Perhaps the #1 picks value has went up with Embid's stamp on being the top pick, but its close and I would still prefer 3 and 10. 3 and 10 certainly has more value than #2.
Not if you believe there's a drop off after the first two picks. Let's not act like guys taken 10th or later always turn into solid players.
Lets also not act like that their isn't still quality players around 10 either. Considering we drafted the ROTY with the 11th pick last year, I much rather keep the pick and take our chances with it. If you would rather have the #2 pick over having the #3 and #10 that's cool and I respect that. I just value what we have more.
MCW winning the ROTY is like when Mike Miller won it

I still don't see anyway embiid ends up a buck. If his back is too big a concern for Cleveland then it's too big of a concern for the bucks too. IMO embiid goes 1 or potentially falls to around 5.

First of all, how the %#*% are you so sure that Noel "isn't any kind of reason" to pass on giving up TWO top-10 picks - in THIS draft - to trade up for Embiid?
The fact is that there is no proof of any kind to suggest that Noel should factor in to any type of draft decision. It would almost be like saying the Bucks should not consider Exum because we have Nate Wolters or that CLE should avoid Parker because they have Bennett.
bebopdeluxe wrote:Second of all, if Embiid is UNQUESTIONABLY this franchise-changing player, why would either CLE or MIL even consider trading out of that slot? Especially if the 10 pick really isn't all that?
Almost No Bucks fans want to trade #2 if Embiid is on the Board (and many, many wouldn't want to either even if Embiid does go #1)

Probasketballdraft @Probballdraft
I've seen the reports that Cavs are concerned w/ Embiid's back, I'm skeptical. Dropping that intel weakens the value of the pick.
Probasketballdraft @Probballdraft
My sources say the Cavs doctors cleared Embiid. Only reason to leak intel is to try to get him to slip by the Bucks if Cavs swap w/ Philly.
Probasketballdraft @Probballdraft
Bucks have interest in Embiid if he's available at 2. If Cavs could scare them w/ leaked info & Embiid not meet w/ Bucks drs they could pass

Re: Official #2 Pick Thread - Ford #7: Parker
It'd be one thing if Jabari's instincts were good on defense but his technique was letting him down. Good positioning can make up for poor footspeed and lateral quickness. But he's a heavy-footed sieve who doesn't look to cut off angles. He already takes a slew of contested shots, shots which will only get more difficult to make against NBA competition. His in-conference TS% and eFG% are mildly calamitous.
He's a stretch four with slashing potential who we have to hope would at some point become average defensively. He's not a creator, he has a weak assist rate (minuscule in conference) with high usage, and he's going to stop the ball on offense. He's a landmine, and such a Kohl pick for No. 2.

Re: Official #2 Pick Thread - Ford #7: Parker
Any chance these Philly fans will grasp what we're all saying about their precious picks at 3 and 10?
- No one here is saying that Philly is actively trying to package 3 and 10 to move up.
- We're responding to people who come here and say their GM won't do it. He sure as hell might if its deemed necessary to get a player he covets over all others.
- No one is even claiming that a potential trade up by Philly has to be for Wiggins. It could be for anyone.
- Just because your GM stockpiles picks like they're gold doesn't mean he won't one day package them together to move up and get a player who is special in his eyes. (Us Packers fans can relate to the Ted Thompson, Clay Matthews example)
- And finally, what's to say that 3 and 10 are even enough in the eyes of either the Bucks or the Cavs for either of them to drop down a spot or two. I think its more likely that both teams would rather stay put.
Again, since the idea of either Cleveland or Milwaukee swapping their pick for Philly's 3 and 10 wasn't perpetuated or first speculated here, what exactly is the point of coming here to state matter of factly that the Philly GM won't use 10 to move up? And that isn't an invitation to leave. You're more than welcome to come here and talk draft anytime you want. You just have to bring more to the conversation than blind speculation dressed up as fact. Truth is no one here knows who has who rated above the others and what they'd be willing to part with to ensure they get their guy.

That Rizzo report has now been pretty well discredited by a number of people.
I'd love the Cav's to pass on Embiid in the hope they can bluff a fall to number three for them. He won't get to pick #3.

I still like the idea that PHI wouldn't want Embiid because of their 206 Pound Center, who missed an entire year due to a devastating injury, has never played a minute in the NBA and has very minimal offensive game.
I am not even sure he weighs more than OJ Mayo presently

I highly doubt Embiid camp will agree to this he's losing money the further he falls and he's going to workout for Milwaukee in the near future.

I haven't read any of this thread yet today, so maybe this was already discussed, but I found it interesting that this was posted on the Bucks Facebook page.
http://www.nba.com/bucks/features/boede ... ect-update
Now, I'm thinking they'll probably do this for the top 4 guys? Who knows?
Well, just saw it was posted a few pages back. Nothing to see here.

I think the biggest news of the day is Kyler's article on the Magic being more interested in Smart than Exum and his follow up tweet about the Jazz and #5 being open for business if Exum falls to them. Do we have enough to get the #5 pick?
