The Bucks shouldn't be making promises to anyone. If they truly want Wiggins, they need to keep it under wraps so they don't get jumped, and if they don't want Wiggins, I would never make him a promise knowing I was going to renege the whole time. Bad business. The whole concept is dumb anyway IMO.

No, Randy is on to something here.

AFTER the Bucks work out all three guys, they should make a promise to Wiggins, assuming he is their guy.

One of the great conditions of human nature is coveting the goods of others. I guarantee for at least a few hours after Chad Ford reveals "the promise" (Yi pun) the Bucks make to Wiggins, that Dan Gilbert and Cavs nation second guess the crap out of themselves. Does it mean they pass on Embiid? Likely not, but we've got a 10 percent chance of it.

Or if Philly truly wants Wiggins, it forces them to deal with Cleveland, dropping Embiid to us, or deal with us, assuming our price is 3&10.

The bold is the key. He very well may not be. But if he is, I can see it being pretty shrewd - but only also assuming Wiggins is actually #2 after Embiid on our board.

^^^^^You only do it if you see little difference in Wiggins and Parker, since you may end up with Parker if you trade w/Philly. But then you've bluffed Philly out of pick 10.

Lol, I love this idea actually. Promise Wiggins even if he isn't your guy. Let that leak. Only him.

Exactly.

Wiggins gives you the most leverage. If the difference between Parker and Wiggins is slight, then Wiggins is the guy to pick or at least pretend to pick.

Sixers either trade up with Cleveland for Wiggins, in which case the Bucks get Embiid, or they trade with the Bucks after the Bucks take Wiggins.

Even if none of that happens, you still have Wiggins who is the best SG in the draft. This allows you to move other pieces (Knight) to gather more assets.

i still think the philly rumors could be complete bs.

if we really want parker, you shouldn't risk philly taking him

the 76ers have "wiggins at the top of their board" could easily be a smokescreen. wouldn't surprise me if he was 3rd on their board at all.

Funny thing, if there's any team I want drafting number 1 it's the Cavs.
Embiid seems the obvious choice but these guys are colossal drafting dumbasses. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they drafted f'n Parker.

They want Mark Jackson as their next coach. Hopefully that gets cemented before the draft.

I think the 3 and 10 for 2 is just a fantasy, I'll be shocked if Philly trades up. Worst case scenario is that they get a guy they still like AND #10.

Fill in the rest with young fliers and second rounders. Do your damnedest to trade Ersan and Zaza for late firsts or early second rounders. I'm sure were stuck with mayo.

I dare you to post this on either the Magic or Kings board. Dare.

To me, objectively as a Sixers fan (which, btw, 3 and 10 for 2.... when reports out of Philly saying that wouldn't even happen for 1) this is the equivalent of the Magic fans thinking they can trade 12 for Giannis.

If Embiid is gone and we take one of Parker, Wiggins or Exum then fine whatever. If Healthy Embiid is on the board when we pick and we pick someone else, I'll probably have the same famous freakout as the kid who got his Warcraft account taken away. Maybe worse.

Draft time is the worst with other teams fans coming over.

-Many SAC fans would take Sanders/Knight for 8/Mclemore

-ORL would Never do that trade to move from #4 to #8

-PHI fans drastically overrate their #10 pick. The odds are likely below 50% of merely reaching a Knight or Brandon Jennings caliber player, much less a difference maker.

Yeah, but I always find the "my team would NEVER do........" funny. How do they know? How did their team end up in the lottery?

I actually have faith in Hammond as a talent evaluator and drafter. It's been said on this board before, but he actually has a good history and pedigree of spotting talent and drafting good players so I don't expect that to change. It's been in free agency where he's really sh*t the bed, and we probably will never truly know how much of that was him and how much of that was Kohl, but if I had to place my life on it, I'd wager the latter had more to do with it. If he believes in one of Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, or even Exum over the other, than so be it. I'll be at peace with the decision so long as it's made in good judgement and logic.

I for one don't really believe in this narrative amongst mock drafters that Hammond will take Parker in order to save his job because Hammond has never really taken the "safe" route when it comes to drafting players (see: Antetokounmpo, Giannis) and that flies completely in the face of everything Edens and Lasry have said about their plan to rebuild. I just don't see how E&L can publicly say that this is a 3-5 year process that probably will include more trips to the draft lottery, and then turn around and intimate to Hammond that his professional life is on the line and he needs to win next year.
