Bill Simmons is a prick!

Post#1 » by The Flash Rises » Sat Jun 14, 2014 11:49 am

This guy is the the definition of a prick, how dare you! How dare you! This is just blasphemous, this guy has been bashing Dwyane Wade for ages, called him a cheat and said the refs handed him the finals mvp blah blah. Then he says D-Wade is washed up yesterday, calls D-wade a 'collect the check guy'. Say's his riding Lebron's …. for championships, says he never developed a post up game, i mean come on, come on.

Thoughts on this guy?

Let's not act like we aren't going to the finals next year even if we lose this time. And sure as hell, if we lose this one, chances of winning the next one will double.

He's a prick ... but not worth getting worked up over.

Getting pissed off about Bill Simmons is like getting pissed off about Skip Bayless or Stephen A. Smith. With that being said, Wade looks pretty done to me.

I just don't understand why he's declining so heavily at only 32 and why he hasn't evolved his game, i mean Kobe Bryant had his fair share of his injuries including knee injuries and he was still balling at 32, damm it he was balling before he did his Achilles.

It's not about evolving his game, he had a meniscus removed in college and is now feeling the long-term damage you suffer from it. There is no bouncing back from this, if your knee is f***ed you just can't play well on a consistent basis, no matter how skilled you might be.

True, i think Blair from the Mavs also has no meniscus. I heard he elected to remove it but today because of the technology they wouldn't of removed the menaces, can you elaborate on this if you know?

I actually really like Bill Simmons, but I take what he says with a grain of salt. He analyzes the game from a fans perspective, letting his emotions override logic. Just look at this board, everyone's reaction after that game wasn't too different. He's a Celtics homer who will never get over the fact that we indefinitely ended their run after forming the Big 3, so naturally he's going to hate the HEAT. But to compare him to Skip Bayless is just not true. Skip Bayless is a hating piece of **** who is making a joke out of sports journalism. If you read The Book of Basketball, Bill actually has some high praise for DWade. If HEAT fans started to hate all the media that bashes the HEAT, we'd only have Eric, Tony, and Jax left.

I'm not some medical expert, just did some reading, but I think in Wade's case they did to speed up the recovery and maintain a decent draft stock. The usual procedure, as I know it, is to have it surgically repaired and then rehabilitate the knee, which takes a lot longer than the recovery from removing it. So the sole reason they removed it in Wade's case is to get him back on the court quick enough.

This here is a very simple summary of the meniscus' function: http://www.ivysportsmed.com/en/knee-pain/meniscus-function

It's not a coincidence that Wade has always battled knee problems, even during the '06 Finals he had issues there, although I suppose not as severe as know given the added mileage. His crashing playing style certainly didn't help the case, but I think this development was in the making either way.

That's why people who say he is washed up and done now ain't wrong.

I'm not too familiar with the Blair situation, just that he has no ACLs, but I think he is at the same risk as Wade, which is why his draft stock fell off dramatically despite him being a good player.

Skip Bayless is an irrational idiot who lets his emotions get in the way of his opinion, the same as Bill Simmons. The only difference is probably Skip doing it on purpose, fully knowing he triggers reactions with his statements whereas Simmons actually believes his opinion is worth s***.

Yeah, the standard treatment today is to repair the meniscus as opposed to removing it (which was an option back in early 2000s). The meniscus is basically a cushion for the knee joint. When you remove it, you put the patient at a great risk for progressive degenerative changes in the knee joint, which I believe is what we are witnessing with DWade today.

Yeah, maybe true. I don't think Bill pushes an agenda though. Skip has an agenda that he pushes and he will bend facts to fit his storyline. Just look at their two different narratives; DWade being washed up vs. LeBron isn't that good. The former seems rash, but with some merit (for the record, I think DWade will respond huge in game 5) while the later is just comical. I just think its a huge slap in the face of Bill Simmons (or any other sports writer) to be compared to Skip, but I see where you're coming from.

Blair not having any ACLs and playing basketball in the NBA is an anomaly and speaks to how strong his quads and hamstring are to stabilize his knee. Not having an ACL will take away one's ability to plant hard and change directions as well as increase one's risk of tearing the meniscus but it doesn't cause the pain and inflammation that not having a meniscus does.

Simmons bends facts as well, that's the usually the case when someone tries to sell his own opinion as facts or good knowledge. Like I said, the difference is, Skip Bayless most likely knows what he's doing, they probably want him to do it and enjoys it. His opinions are so radical, it's too obvious what his and ESPN's agenda are. They want him and SAS screaming at each other for entertainment purposes, fully knowing a lot of people tune in just to see and hear this. Bill Simmons on the other hand actually believes the garbage he sells and wants to come off as someone who is knowledgable when he isn't.

Interesting to hear this, I wasn't really aware of the problems going along with his situation other than him being at a risk for suffering an injury.

This is all true, but none of it explains Wade failing to develop 3 point range or playing such undisciplined defense. A lot of Wade's decline has been inevitable, but he hasn't put in the work to help cushion the fall.

Wade did lose a lot of weight after last season. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... his-knees/ Pat Riley challenged him to do it and he did. He was also on a strict diet throughout the regular season. The notion that Wade's lazy is ridiculous. I think injury issues such as the hamstring issue that caused him to miss a month of action sidelined him and prevented him from staying in top condition.
