So you think its a good idea to use your number 4 overall pick on a position where a Mcroberts just proved hes more than capable of filing in the future?...so lets watch Mcroberts leave because he knows he wont get as much time here because you have to play a #4 pick and lets see how good we are then with Zeller starting.

well the #4 pick should be more than capable than McBob is in the future

NOTHING I have ever seen tells me Zeller will be better than Mcbob at any point in their careers. I cant understand how Charlotte fans take Mcjesus for granted so much. Jordan knows how important he is to the team thats why hes pushing hard to resign him and believes hes an important part of the teams future.

McBob is in the middle of his prime and McBob's prime numbers are very comparable to Zellers rookie numbers on a PER 36 mins basis, actually Zeller's stats are a bit better

If Zeller continues to improve as much as he did from the first half to the end of the season he will be a better player than McRoberts in time. I still want to keep McRoberts though.

OK you said it Zeller is a better player than Mcroberts, what would ever make me think otherwise

I'm just gonna throw it out there that if this is the depth of analysis you plan to bring, you're not gonna have a lot of fun around here.

That clearly wasn't JDR's point.

They were not better for what we need. The passing and the shooting which we desperately needed favor McRoberts and Zeller is so far behind he can't see Josh from where he is. Zeller is BY FAR a worse NBA player right now, but is a decent bench hustle big. If, and it is a big if right now, he learns to shoot that can change but if Zeller never develops a reliable 3pt shot he will never be as good as McRoberts is not in this system.

:banghead: and you clearly never got my point. Mcbob proved that he is a starting level PF and most importantly the glue of our team. and then we went out and used our #4 overall pick on a player at his position.
Im just saying that didnt seem like a good idea to me. Zeller will be a fine NBA player one day but were all aware thats not in the near future and him being on the team is going to make Mcroberts want to go somewhere where he will get more minutes, I never said thats Zellers fault thats just the situation on hand. There is NOTHING you can say to make me think otherwise. How do you put a value on a big who can and is willing to make the passes he can?

So who was a better pick in our range? Len? Porter? McLemore? Noel?

McRoberts is a good player, but he wouldn't start on a majority of the teams in the league.

It was far from a given that Josh was a long term solution at PF before last season. We got him for scraps and while he was productive, he had no three point shot (he was sub 25% from three as a Bobcat before last season), which had to be a big question mark playing next to Al.

It would be terrible team management to alter a top 5 draft pick to make a journeyman PF that you just acquired a couple months earlier for practically nothing happy.

Good point but I don't care what they got him for or how they got him he has been crucial for our success last year. Every team has the unsung hero and he's ours. I guess it just comes down to the fact im just a huge fan of his game. Id rather have our pf average 4+ assists a night then being on sports center like blake Griffin.

I would have taken Len or Noel. We won't know what they are till healthy but Noel would be perfect next to Al on defense. I also would have liked Adams or a trade down for Olynyk if we wanted a n undersized shooting 4.

Zeller wouldn't start on any teams so the fact McRoberts could start anywhere else shows his value at least a little.

Do you not see why you can't judge the wisdom of drafting Zeller based on McRoberts's season last season? Zeller was picked before Josh did the majority of the things that you value him so highly for.

McBob is a low end starter/high end backup. Ultimately I don't really think it matters much if he starts or comes off the bench as long as he is a key role player in about 20-30 minutes a night. Every team needs key role players in their starting lineup. You can't have a top 5 player at all 5 spots, and McRoberts is good enough to start and help a winning team as long as you aren't counting on him to be more than a role player. So can we upgrade the position? Yeah. Do I hope Zeller is eventually that upgrade? Of course, though I have my doubts. But if McRoberts is our starter we can still win as long as we put other talented players around him.

Thats not entirely true because I remember him having some near triple double games towards the end of the 12-13 season but in all fairness last years draft was just god awful so it really doesnt matter.

Len is hot garbage. Noel will never be a PF in todays NBA.

Zeller is going to be just fine.

Gerald Henderson also averaged 22 a game the last 20 orr so games that year. Jeff Adrien tore it up for the Bucks.

If Zeller can play PF in today's NBA then Noel can be an all star at PF in the NBA. He was a whole lot more mobile on the perimeter pre injury than Zeller ever was.

So you concede that it doesn't make sense that McRoberts would get upset at the pick, and thus your entire argument is without any support. I agree.

At this point Zeller doesn't stretch the floor much more than Noel. Hopefully that changes. But at this point I don't see how Noel wouldn't provide much more defense and not too much less offense.

And I'm not a Zeller hater. But at this point he doesn't really stretch the floor. No one fears his jump shot.
