Post#1 » by ropjhk » Mon Jun 16, 2014 2:43 pm

Didn't want to put this on the GB because it would just turn into Lebron hate fest.

List based on how they played who you think were the top 10 players in the finals.

My list:
1) Lebron
2) Kawhi
3) Duncan
4) Parker
5) Ginobili
6) Bosh
7) Diaw
8) Wade
9) Mills
10) Lewis

Never thought I'd see the day Patty **** Mills or even that other Fatty **** Diaw is in the same performance tier or actually in an even higher tier than D-Wade in a Finals series. Ever.

Wow. This is harder than I thought...

LeBron
Shot > 50% from 3 including some insane shots. .679 TS%. Singlehandedly won G2 and was great until he melted in G1. 3rd Qtr in G4 and 1st in G5 were all-time performances. His level of play was staggering and I have no comprehension how anyone could try to hang this series around his neck. If it would have been a more competitive series he could have gotten FMVP. Hard to give it to him when the results were so skewed though.

Kawhi
Has long been underrated. SAS was 7 points/100 possession better with him on the floor in the playoffs. Missed the bulk of the first two games and allowed us to believe it was going to be close. When he was able to stay on the floor he was outstanding. Shot 55% from 3. 8 stl and 6 bl showed his athleticism. Competed hard against LeBron. Didn't stop him but made it hard on him and made him expend enormous amounts of energy to do basic things. Easily the FMVP.

Duncan
Old man river walk was a steady beast. Made getting to the rim far more difficult. When guarded by smaller players punished them. Quite a few off reb. Cornerstone of their D.

Manu
What a difference a year makes. Came in and devoured the spent Heat D. Led the emotional charge back in G5. Almost led the team in Asst despite playing far fewer min than TP and coming off the bench.

Tony Parker
Was completely taken out of quarters by LeBron and the Heat but stepped aside and allowed the offense to continue to move. When he was defended by Rio or Cole he got to the paint with ease. Ended up the leading scorer on the Spurs for the series.

Diaw
Stats look mediocre but he completely opened the floor up for the Spurs movement and actively sliced the Heat's defense personally. The behind the back pass was indicative of how well he was passing the ball.

Patty Mills
Only played 76 minutes but was a pest defensively and an insane offensive threat. The record for reg season 3s was 272 last year for Steph Curry. That was good for a 3 every 11 min. Mills ended the series at one every 5.6 min. He also shot them at a 57% clip. ORTG 139 DRTG 107. Sparkplug deluxe.

Bosh
Underutilized. Shot a great .627 TS%. Only 5 Reb/gm. Inconsistent offensively.

Danny Green
A few def lapses but he was engaged and his ball pressure and 5 stl in G4 showed they were going to battle. Made 45% from 3 and showed he wasn't just a one trick pony when Mia played him just as a shooter. Did a good job on Wade when asked. 681 TS%. Ugh.

Rashard
Was a great stretch for for a few games. Eventually overmatched down low and when the def got out to him his % went down. Pleasant surprise should get him another 1 yr at least.

Splitter
Really good interior passer, shot >70% for the series.

RAYRAY
Played with great passion the first few games. Ended up getting too many min and def was exposed. Legs ended up dead. Spo didn't have enough weapons and left this one out there too long.

Bird
Clearly hobbled still at least presented an obstacle down low. Pretty awful offensively and clearly limited.

Bonner
ORTG of 202. I **** you not.

Wade
Yes. Below Bonner. The offense was awful. He allowed himself to be covered by whomever the Spurs wanted to hide defensively. Defensively was far worse. If you haven't seen the youtube clip of his D check it out.

Cole
Not helpful offensively, abused def.

Rio
I hate to hazard a guess as to how much he cost himself with this performance. Awful.
