I hear some people say Morey might match Parsons and use him as trade bait after a test run. But I doubt it will even go that far.

Not necessarily trade bait. The purpose Morey declined Parsons' option is simply to allow the possibility to lock Parsons into a long-term, below market value contract due to how RFA works. If that does happen it gives Morey another asset to shape trades with, but you can't think too many steps ahead because that superstar trade may never materialize.

at market value, not below market value.

That's how the RFA works.

Obviously I mean market value relative to what he would get as a UFA.

Dang, and was it for Powell or Dextman for a day or something like that?

D-Mo should be adequate for the regular season but probably not for the playoffs.

D-Mo would be really good on the right system. Ironically, you would think McHale would be that system.

I wish I could And1 this 10 times. I feel as if we're about to go all in on Melo. We'll allow Parsons to walk or we'll offer Parsons in a sign and trade to Knicks.

So Dirk is saying he wants Melo, probably willing take a paycut. I think they're still better off with Deng, their defense needs to get better, not quite their offense.

I just found out because of this tax apron thing, we can't sign and trade Parsons to the Knicks. So the question is, how do we clear cap space or trade for Melo?

One possibility is Houston trade Asik/Lin/Parson to Knicks for Melo, Smith and Felton.

Felton, while garbage, still serviceable for a few minutes. Under McHale's "system", any backup PG will only get a few minutes.

Smith, previous 6th man. Maybe under McHale's "system", he can turn into another Harden.

Shumpert would be a great fit on this team. 2-years on his rookie scale so he's affordable, tenacious wing defender with an attitude and he was a 40% 3pt shooter just one season ago. Once Lin is gone that open those back-up SG minutes. Shumpert can play spot minutes at the 3 as well.

But NYK know he is one of the few assets they still have though, and unless they are going to do a complete rebuild I don't see them getting rid of him.

Howard/Harden should have a busy summer recruiting they will all be together with Lebron when Team USA goes to the World Cup I think next month, don't know when they start practice.

Exactly. If there is a trade between Rockets and Knicks, Knicks is not giving all their assets to help Rockets. If the trade is Melo for Asik/Lin, then this trade will only benefit the Rockets and Knicks get no value in return.

It will only make sense if Rockets take some of the bad contracts from the Knicks too.

One of the biggest reason why Rockets need Melo is you don't want Melo to sign, for example: Dallas.

I honestly don't think Melo is going to Bulls with Rose missing for 2 years and his uncertainty for future. Most likely case is he excise his player's option

What rumors? Link?

The future of LeBron James is up in the air to say the very least but it’s one that could see him return to Miami for another season. In fact, the most likely scenario this offseason sees LeBron James coming back to South Beach but it might not be before he’s seriously tempted elsewhere. According to Eric Koreen of the National Post, the Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls could both be options for LeBron this offseason but both are incredibly sketchy places for him to go given their individual situations. With Houston, as pointed out by Koreen, the Western Conference is a lot harder than the Eastern Conference and there is a virtual certainty that LeBron would face the San Antonio Spurs before he reaches the NBA Finals. Granted, the Finals would be a breeze if LeBron was in the West, but getting there would be harder than anything LeBron has faced in his career. As for Chicago, they have no cap space and they’d need to gut their roster of everyone except Derrick Rose to make room for LeBron — which defeats the entire purpose of coming to the Bulls. If Chicago found a way to land Kevin Love or Carmelo Anthony, then LeBron could join rank. But the chances are they’d have to deal Joakim Noah to make room on the books for LeBron and there’s a fat chance that he’d want to play for a team even less talented than the ones his Heat teams disposed of with relative ease in the past.

It's all a load of crap, he isn't going to Houston or Chicago. FanSided is just filled with rumors, he doesn't want to be in MJ's shadow in Chicago and it doesn't make sense to go to Houston. But Morey loves stars and that's not bad at all. Houston or Miami doesn't even NEED Melo, they need Harden to step up his game as well as Parsons. If Harden's the best SG in the NBA then he has to contribute on defense and get much better on that side of the floor. The only team that really needs him is Chicago, a Big 3 of Melo/D12/Harden doesn't seem like a fit but we'll never know until something happens. I love big offseasons, just too fun as a bball fan.
