Notes: Rookie Rudy Gay twisted his left ankle trying to guard McGrady late in the third quarter and limped to the bench. He returned with 5:51 left, then returned to the bench about a minute later - http://www.nba.com/games/20061231/MEMHOU/recap.html

Seems like a lot of guys being moved around but still the same people handling the business.
Still, maybe Wohl will do the major handling of player acquisitions while he'll still have to report to Doc, etc before making any moves.

That's what a I pretty much took from it. I'm surprised that Sacks agreed to be assistant GM. Maybe he'll be looking to go elsewhere sometime soon.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

probably the best option he had. i'd rather stay with a successful group, too, with the ability to pick and choose my destination down the road.
also, does anyone know anything about dave wohl?

Re: Dave Wohl Hired as our new GM
I don't like it at all, although I saw it coming the minute Doc signed to have all this power. Sacks is one of the smartest executives in the league and they're pushing him aside for a guy (Dave Wohl) who is known for being Doc's assistant coach in his terrible years in Boston when they couldn't get out of the lottery, and Kurt Rambis' lead assistant in Minnesota's worst years ever when they won 15 and 17 games. He was part of Boston's front office for a couple years (when they signed the big 3), but he had a minor role there.
Basically it's a move that goes against the current trend in the league, they push aside a smart guy with affection for analytics for an oldskool guy, an ex-player that doesn't have a very good resume in player development. Expect us to keep signing washed up veterans who were good when Doc was coaching the Celtics, instead of thinking outside the box and getting underrated guys on cheap contracts, like we did when Oshley and Sacks were in charge.
Hopefully when Ballmer gets control of the team reverses this trend.

Please don't let this be the outcome. You mean no push for Shaun Livingston? No attempt to get some young guys that we can develop? I really hope not. Doc so far does have a bit of a thing for guys that he has coached or have played well against him, hopefully it isn't without considering proper fit and roster compliment either.

Re: Dave Wohl Hired as our new GM
well the first order for Dave is to turn Jered Dudley's contract into something productive.
the whole nation is watching. just hope this isn't a power grab move by Doc. if this is what Steve and Doc thought were the best for the franchise and everybody involved is in it for the long haul, then okay. but from outside looking in, this doesn't have a very good look so far.

Yeah, I LOVE Doc as a coach and as the guy leading our team, but I don't trust his roster building abilities one bit. In Boston he had Ainge who is very good at that, but he's never been great at it himself. And it looks like Wohl is just gonna be his yes man here. It's not that Doc isn't a good talent evaluator, it's just that he never seems willing to assume any risk or even try to, he'll get his veterans but he'll never have the patience to, say, go out of his way to trade for an underrated Bledsoe on draft night, like Oshley did. TBH it's more likely we go after Hinrich or Steve Blake than Livingston imo.
