Will this be the year??

Post#1 » by CoolbeansB » Fri Jun 13, 2014 1:01 am

We all know that the Rockets try every year to move up in the draft. They had mild success in 2012. Now with Asik, Parsons and Lin in the fold, will this be the year that they are finally able to move up significantly in this draft?? Although i am not too big on this dsraft, there is good talent in the top 20. Personally, i think Asik alone should net us a 1st round pick. There are many teams in need of a top defensive center.

There are a couple of teams with two picks in the lottery. One of them is Phillie with good ole Sam Hinkie. Maybe Hinkie could hook his old pal Morey up. Orlando is a team that could use Asik's presence in the paint. Asik next to Vucevic would be a great combo.

I'm not too sure about it. What kinda player are we gonna get? We are definitely in win now mode.

Thanks for the honesty.

No they are going to move up in the draft since it will likely get traded

Hmmm, NO is aggressively shopping their 1st round pick. I can see Asik being a good fit next to Davis. This looks promising.

lin and asik are overpay i dont think we can get a 1st round pick for them i think is the opposite we have to give other teams a 1st or two picks in order for other teams to take their contracts

trading parsons for a 1st round pick makes so much sense

pasons + # 25 for highest pick you can get, is what the rockets should do
fire morey please ,the sooner the better.....ryan Anderson is a 3 not a 4

Lin and Asik only "overpay" because McHale under utilize both them. If McHale is a good coach and able to maximum his players, then they are not overpay.

Back to topic.

Asik will not net you a top 1st round pick. I don't see any team will pay Rocket anything for Asik or Lin. Everyone know this team aim for a 3rd star and the only way to accomplish this this off season is to unload both Lin and Asik's contracts and get no salary back in return. No only that, the team who is picking up Lin or Asik has to pay 15m.

So how do you expect the other team going to pick up a big contract and give you just a 1st round in return?

For the above reasons, Lin and Asik will start here next year and left Rockets as UFA next summer.

I t doesn't necessarily have to be a top 1st round pick. I'm thinking somewhere in the range of #18 to 20 something.
