If you want to get an idea of how next year's draft supposedly compares to this one, KRISTAPS PORZINGIS, who was #21 in the 2014 DX mock is now #7 in the 2015 DX mock.

Yeah... but none of those coaches are going to be around anymore.

I know I've mocked Payton as a target if we get a later pick in a Love trade, but that's looking like a remote possibility between this and Chad Ford mocking him to Sacramento at 8.

Not surprised at all by this.

I don't think we'd be terribly interested in him at #13 so if he can get picked in front of us maybe another decent player slides into our lap.

Still, seems pretty crazy, DX has had him mocked in the 20's this whole time and is #20 exactly right now. I'd definitely want him at #16 or #17 but #7 or #8?!? I dunno about that.

DX is always slower to make big changes to their mocks.

As an example, they didn't move Antetokounmpo up from 29 to 17 until the day of the draft last year.

Well 29 to 17 is still a LOT different to me than 20 to 7 or 8!

The other thing is, does DX mock who they think will get PICKED at each spot? (based on team needs, latest rumors / news, etc) or is a it a mock where they just list who they think the best players are based on some form of scouting or whatever it is they do?

Right now its the latter, and as it gets closer to the draft, it will be the former.

For a mock based on latest rumors and team needs, Chad Ford's is likely better now.

12 spots vs. 12 or 13 spots....you're right, its way different.

They start out doing a pure big board, but once we get closer to the draft time, they take into consideration team needs and what they're hearing.

No, DX's mock is agnostic regarding NBA team needs. They are going solely on the talent evaluations of Jonathan Givony and his staff, and their placement reflects only how well they think each prospect projects into the NBA.

EDIT: Uh-oh, Klomp and I are going to have to battle now. :starwars

I realize it's 12 spots vs 12 spots, but when they occur higher up the draft board, those picks tend to exponentially increase in value. From 29 to 17 it's like "hey, maybe we found a diamond in the rough, let's burn a non lottery pick on him and see if it sticks" but 20 to 7 is like betting "this guy WILL be a future star". To me that's different, but YMMV.

Also thanks for the info on DX for those that replied.

It's funny that DX have had Aaron Gordon in the top 8 for most of the year, but has now moved him down to 10, while NBAdraft.net have had Gordon at around #16 the whole year, but now have him mocked #8.

I wouldnt worry. I would wager that just about everyone but Klomp understood what your position was.

Porzingis is 18 years old. Next year he will be one year older and better prepared for the NBA. Specially being a player without much muscles.
