Let's chill here , 3 tournament wins in a row. Italy have been washed in the group stages defending the title not too Lin ago you know? In an easier group too. And Spain did smash Italy in the euro final just 2 years ago.

That kind of volley rocketing off the crossbar and down into the goal is something special. Both crosses were spectacular but I'm leaning towards Cahill's finish.

don't remember what group france was in, but they didn't make it out of the first round in 2002 and I think its the same with Italy.

That's not an easy group, it's the second (arguably first) hardest group in the tournament (ref: http://www.theguardian.com/football/int ... f-schedule).This sort of thing happens pretty often in the WC though there's always 2-3 teams that should blitz their group and go deep in the later rounds that don't even get out of the group.

France is the big one that comes to mind in 2010. They were the runner up in 2006 to Italy, had a pretty easy group in 2010 (Uruguay, South Africa, Mexico) and finished dead last with 1 point.

Germany, Netherlands, Colombia and Italy the best teams right now IMO. Brazil is still a major threat as is Argentina. Belgium could make noise too if they continue their 2nd half form. I think England actually looks like a decent dark horse at this point too. Rooney just can't shank everything like he did against Italy

I'm impressed with Germany especially. They really played well against Portugal, giving them no chance at all.

I don't see Netherlands reaching far. The 5-1 against Spain was great and a perfect revenge for the finals four years ago. But when you look at the game, the first half they played very poorly and they were extremely lucky to reach half time with a draw. Second half everything game together and they destroyed Spain on the counter attack.

Yesterday against Australia we played very bad. We could have easily lost that one.

The defense is really bad with Vlaar, de Vrij and Martins Indi. Almost every ball they play forwards is a loss of possession. Janmaat is disappointing so far. De Guzman on midfield is terrible, I can't believe he is even in the squad. Holland lives because of the brilliant attack with Robben and van Persie. Not many countries have strikers like that. The rest of the team is average. Blind is a brightspot at leftback, but he is better on midfield.

Netherlands vs Chile will be played before Brazil's match.

Obviously, it's still very likely that Brazil finishes first in their group, but with the result of Brazil vs Cameroon not being known, both sides of group B are likely to go hard at each other. Chile needs a win, the Dutch would win the group with a tie.
