Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 2
The Spurs free agents are Boris Diaw, Patty Mills and Matt Bonner.
They can keep the first two with no issue and they'll be well below the luxury tax due to The Big 3 making less than $30 million. Gary Neal got $3 million per from the Bucks last year. I imagine the Spurs keep Mills at that rate and he's only 25.
Spurs can use an upgrade at the backup SF spot. They have a lot of draft and stash kids abroad too. But like Nivek said, they will drop off whenever Duncan retires. He's damn near 40 and still gives consistent defense at the rim and 15+ and 10 boards with a couple assists and blocks. He looks like he can be effective next year once again.
Parker may have started his decline due to the beating he's taken and the amount if basketball. But this will be his first summer off and he may have a resurgence as Manu did this year with a whole summer off from the national team.
They're in very good shape in terms of cap flexibility and they always draft or sign undrafted kids.

Mills is a lot better than Neal. Mills may have been flying a bit under the radar, but with his solid performance in the play-offs I think he will get a lot of interest. Also there is a lot of cap space floating around this off-season and it can't all be used on Melo and LeBron.

The PG position is also oversaturated. I don't see people paying Mills at the MLE and above. He's going to get less than that per season. Plus, he's a bit of a chucker and leaving SA's system where he's getting open looks from Ginobili and Diaw with that bench unit would definitely hurt his career especially if he goes to NYK (though he does fit the Triangle offense).

He'd be a nice consolation prize for Miami if they miss out on Lowry.

If he fills out, Not sure than frame can, I mean hes just so thin, He did play well, but man, I feel bad for Jackson! To be honest, I was more impressed with Oladipo than I was Noel.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 2
We messed up. Our free agency would be so much easier if Nerlens Noel was in the fold instead of Otto Porter!
If we took Noel with Glen Rice last year, I'd have easily given Ernie an A for that draft!

I'm still on the fence with that one. Noel looked good but he's a toothpick. What's gonna happen when he lines up against NBA centers coming off a major injury? His career, god forbid, could go the way of Oden.

Noel is a toothpick, but so is Porter. It will be interesting to see which player will be better at their perspective position.

I'd play him at PF not at Center.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 2
I just watched the ORL game on the DVR.
I liked what I saw from Noel in the first half. He still gets pushed around a bit, and he got winded in the second half, but the athleticism, the defensive instincts, the timing, etc., were all on display. And, he's stronger than I thought.
At a minimum, he'd be a much more valuable trade piece than Porter. MIN isn't swayed by a Nene/Porter package, but they might have been swayed by a Nene/Noel package. Of course, part of his allure is his yet-untested upside; a few stinkers during the regular season could drop his stock down to Porter's level.

Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 2
I've been watching a lot of SL -- wild and woolly and fun.
Jarnell Stokes has looked very good, Cory Jefferson has too, and so has James Ennis -- all CCJ specials, if I remember right.
Delvyn Marble has only played one game, but he played very well -- he was one of the guys I'd have been satisfied w/ at #46. Markel Brown has looked good too, and so has Nick Johnson (both picked a few before our slot). All 2 guards.
Out of the blue is a kid not even CCJ pointed to (I don't think... correct me if I'm wrong): Ronald Roberts, Jr. -- undrafted out of St. Joseph's and playing for Philly. In 54 minutes, he's gone 9-12 from the floor, 6-6 from the line, collected 11 offensive rebounds, committed only 2 fouls and had zero turnovers. Mostly, he's an unbelievable athlete at this point, but... he really looks good! Love stories like his.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 2
watching Atl vs Chi. Very raggedy game for most of the 1st quarter until Atl put some nice stuff together late to lead 20-15. Neither team look ready to play in the regular season but I wont judge to hard off of one game. Atl is also without Teague. The Bulls look like they are struggling for an idenity though. Might take them awhile to figure it out in the regular season and Rose looks a lil similar to RG3. Just like he's trying to find his way again after the injuries.
On a side note, Im in OKC for a lil while and went to the Thunder-Grizz game this past Tuesday. Westbrook looks mad explosive in person and he had a great 2 man game working with Adams who is light years better than Perkins. Morrow also looks like a great fit and Lamb maybe ready to take the next step although Im not sold on the last 2. Im going to the final preseason game on Tuesday, hoping I see RW vs Burke. Jazz have looked good so far and Burke especially

To be honest, I didn't think all that highly of Ennis because his team played Hawaii. I am like everybody else--sometimes I'll see a guy in person on a not-so-good night and not be that impressed. I have seen Ennis for the Bulls. I know he's very athletic and a player who's at his best in transition.
You're right, I've only heard the name Ronald Roberts because his team played in the NCAAs.
http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pla ... elog/2014/
His college stats over four years verify that he makes a lot of shots (very high eFG%) and he does good work on the offensive boards. What he's doing would appear to be the real deal and not a fluke. He likely plays within his limitations and is an unselfish player.
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen
I told you so
I told you so

That Dallas vs. SA game reminded me of the playoffs
Spurs big 3 all had good games. Without their top defensive Center, their SF, and their backup PG
