Which EPL team should I root for?
So I've been intermittently following Soccer/Football for four years now (since the last world cup), and my interest has no officially hit a high point with this year's world cup. I'm rooting hugely for the US and Italy, and just love to watch all of the talented players in the tournament.
To take advantage of the fun, I'm looking to finally pick out a team to root for in the EPL. I am from the NYC area, so in other sports I root for the Jets, Yankees, Rangers and Knicks, while also planning to root for the new NYCFC MLS team, but obviously that's a work in progress.
I've narrowed the teams I'm thinking about rooting for in the EPL down to four, and was wondering if maybe y'all could help me make this decision.
The options are:
Liverpool:
Arsenal:
Chelsea:
Tottenham:
I feel good and bad things about all of them, and maybe as more seasoned fans, you guys can help me pick one out.
With Liverpool, I'm attracted to the fact that they are historically a strong team, and I love watching the young players (Sturridge and Sterling particularly) play. Suarez is a monster as well, and it could be fun to root for him.
With Chelsea, I used to root for them a bit a few years ago when they still had Drogba, but it was a VERY casual fandom. I like a ton of their young players, especially Hazard and Oscar, and I like that the owner is not afraid to spend big, but feel like that could also be a deterrent: I already root for the Yankees, do I want to pick up another similar team?
Arsenal is the team I'm leaning most towards right now. I like plenty of their players (Ozil is one of my favorites, and Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey are a ton of fun to watch). My favorite player in the world is Mario Balotelli and he's rumored to go there, so there's a ton going for Arsenal and me, but again, maybe I don't want to be seen as a "front runner" fan.
Tottenham is the last team I'm considering, and they seem to have a lot of young talent (Eriksen in particular), but seem like the kind of club that is almost a top-level stepping stone for players. In the past year we've seen Bale and Dempsey both move on from the Spurs to other teams. Not sure if I want to root for a team that top level players don't want to stick around on.
Sorry for the random, semi-off topic rambling here, but wasn't sure where else to put it.

Arsenal.
When healthy we play the most entertaining football. We have the most likable squad, really not a single ***** on the team. If you choose us you're guaranteed to be enjoying elite football for years to come because the entire attacking spine of the team is below 25.
If you're going to choose anyone else make it Liverpool. Tottenham are plain **** and Chelsea are run by the biggest ass in world football

Re: Which EPL team should I root for?
I wouldn't say we have the most entertaining brand of football anymore after watching city and Liverpool this year. But yeah we're fun to watch when half the team isn't dead. The only bad thing you've listed about supporting arsenal is ppl considering you a front runner fan. I highly doubt that happens , not with arsenal. Just say no to Chelsea!! They're evil!!
You have four good options there , take your time and make sure you're decision is right(say no to Chelsea)

Re: Which EPL team should I root for?
If these are your four options than either Arsenal or Liverpool I'd say. I think both are due a bit of luck regarding the league title and I can see Liverpool growing back into a true contender on all levels.
Chelsea is a no-no, just because I don't like them. Spurs are a nice enough club as well, but always frustrate in that they don't seem to be able to kick on from a stable platform.
But having said all that: Be a man, support a lower league team! Sheffield Wednesday to be precise

Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

players, coaches come & go
you better off picking a team based on its identity and history
from the listed teams, Id go with liverpool. working class club, top fans, both great and dramatic history, strong rivalries with other northern clubs like ManU, Everton, also with London, northern club in a league/country that orbitates around London...

Liverpool, always good, never quite good enough.
Always fun to cheer on a world class team that also comes across as the underdog.

Over the last 10 years, one team has won more trophies, spent more money (probably), and fired more managers (maybe) than the other 3 combined. Choose that one.

Why would you tie yourself to one team if you have no geographic affiliation to any of the teams? Just cheer for whoever has your favourite players at the time/plays the most exciting style. European soccer is a farce anyway with only a handful of teams being historically competitive in each league. There is no reason for you to show any allegiance really.

In my opinion it's always more fun to pick a team to cheer for.
Makes you care about loses more.

not like you're going to keep them in the team after 25.
Arsenal.
sure, if you want to root for a club that never fulfills its potential and prefers to be the largest feeder club in football.
massimo'd.

Chelsea or Manchester City. These two will most likely be the championship race. Support others if you are ready for your team to lose constantly. So pick your way

Re: Which EPL team should I root for?
Just watch 5 games of each team and you will figure out which of those teams you like/dislike yourself without needing advice from anybody.

Re: Which EPL team should I root for?
I would just follow each team or try to watch most games this season. Give it some time and if you begin to like one team more then the others I would pick them. For me, I started following Spurs because of Dempsey and it wasn't until probably March that I decided they were going to be the club team I follow.

Re: Which EPL team should I root for?
Don't choose a team, root for good football. I dislike Chelsea and I tried to dislike City, but City has two of my favourite players Silva and Aguero. Love Liverpool's history - team of the working class, Tatcher-hating, Red uniform. Like Arsenal a lot too, fun team to watch, always had entertaining players, but is kinda frustrating. Tottenham is likeable. Man Utd is a great club with a wonderful history.

Don't pick Liverpool. You don't wanna be part of the delusions of grandeur. Nothing worse than lying to yourself.
Don't pick Tottenham either because you seem to want a perma-CL level team. I'd recommend buying low on United.

Re: Which EPL team should I root for?
Depends...I am Arsenal supporter. Been one for some years. I agree the team is very likeable...Their problem is they dont buy many top talent at a time.
If you want big spenders then Chelsea is good...Man City if you really want to join that rich bandwagon and if you are anti-Man U.
I cannot stand Man U
