Pistons on NBA draft night

Who will Pistons pick at 38th pick?
Here are two articles with some prospects:

Joe Harris,
C.J. Wilcox,
Deandre Daniels,
Spencer Dinwiddie,

and from 2nd article are:
Glenn Robinson III,
Kyle Anderson,
Jordan Adams,
Cleanthony Early and
Shabazz Napier.

The Bad Boys article is much more realistic in terms of expectations. Keith Langlois is trying to sell people that it's highly likely we'll get a contributor at 38, which simply isn't true.

I hope a miracle happens and a guy like KJ McDaniels or Cleanthony Early slips down, but it's unrealistic and we'll probably end up with a guy like Dinwiddie, and he probably won't be in the league within a year or two.

I think the Pistons will buy a pick/offer multiple 2nd rounders for one of Chicago's picks or Houston's.

If we keep the 38th, I'm really hoping for Joe Harris from Virginia.

That would be great if we could move back into the first round. But, I think the idea of that is more exciting to us, the fans, that it probably is for Detroit's management.

Langlois is crazy. Kyle Anderson was projected to go #8 a few months ago. There's no way he's still there at 38.

Of the realistic prospects, Harris is my favorite.

Of the hopefuls, I like Early and Napier.

Shabazz Napier has accepted an invitation into the green room on draft night. NBA makes sure no kid is left in the room long, so somebody picking in the lotto is really high on Shabazz and he'll be long gone when we pick.

Predictions for second round picks are most of the time wrong. Even if they are correct, the pick would more than likely end up becoming a rotational backup. Not much point!

It's POSSIBLE our pick ends up being a stud (long list of quality 2nd rounders) but it's not likely

I'd be tempted to take the best athlete available and hope SVG can mold him into something

I'm on the Dawkins bandwagon too.

I like him, Harris, and Bader too. Just give me the best 3pt shooter available. If we come away with a 40% 3pt shooter to add to the rotation off the bench, that will help this team more than a project player will.

Hell no to Dawkins. This guy couldn't even play 15 minutes a game on a college squad as a 22-year-old, how the hell is he going to be any better in the pro's? What's worse, at the Pourtsmouth Invitational, his best chance at impressing an NBA team and getting drafted, he showed up out of shape and loafed around on defense, and he already sucked at defense at Duke. If we're going for a scrub who can shoot three's, we might as well go with Bader, who did much more heavy lifting in college and is a local boy.

I don't think anyone's too worked up about it, but we don't have much else to talk about.

Plus, thanks to the sheer depth of this draft, the odds are a little better that we'll pick up a role player that late in the draft.

Heck, we spent a top 10 pick on a role player last year!

High BBIQ, good face up game for a big man, very good passer, smooth jump shooter, I think could develop NBA three point range enough to keep his guard honest, unselfish/team player to a fault - exactly the type of player I think the Pistons want to put beside Drummond. Best shooting potential big man left on the board when we pick. I'm of the "Monroe is going to be traded" school as well so think we'll be drafting a big with our pick.

We MIGHT get lucky that a second rounder will be a contributor, but let's be real - the odds are against us. Look at the entire second round of any draft in the last 10 years and you'll recognize a few names, but for the most part, none of them are in the NBA, or at least not in any significant role.

That being said, there is always a chance we could move up. Some teams might not really want their late first with the guaranteed contract. An early second rounder might be better for them, so it might not take much.

Regardless, free agency, and most importantly, SVG himself, will be the difference maker this off season.

I'm curious if he'll be there at 38. He pulled out of the draft and went right back in at the deadline. That usually indicates a promise from a team, maybe a late first rounder.

I think Inglis or Dinwiddie is our best case scenario with the 38th pick. I love Inglis' size and physical tools. For Spencer, he has a smooth shooting stroke, and would be a first round pick if it wasn't for his ACL injury.

Thanks to Melo, James and others opting out of their deals, I think it may be a buyers market for late first round picks. As fans, we want to see Detroit trade or purchase one, but SVG/Bower might not be that anxious just to get into the first round of the draft.
