Broussard apparently doesn't know about the ability to use the MLE if we S&T for Melo.

It'd be nice if these national journalists (i assume they are paid well over 6 figures) knew the in's and out's of the sport they cover like the CBA.

Broussard says its either Cleveland or Miami for Lebron but most likely Miami.

So we can basically conclude from Broussard that Kevin Love to Chicago is not happening this summer. All in on Melo. Oh boy.

Yes. Here's why....

- Trading Boozer instead of amnestying Boozer means we remain over the salary cap. Sacrificing the picks is fine because Thibs doesn't like rookies all that much.

- Staying over the salary cap gives the Bulls the full 5.3 million dollar mid-level exception. That would go into signing Mirotic over.

- We keep Taj and Jimmy. If we have to move Dunleavy for Felton, so be it. He backs up Derrick.

This is the most important part of the Broussard interview IMO.

He also mentioned during this stretch Noah has kept up contact but I think its huge if DRose has really had contact as well..

So either:
- The Bulls have no shot at Melo. He isn't even considering them and only Miami and NY are in play.
or
- The Bulls almost have this deal closed to the point where they have discussed sign and trade scenarios with phil and he is acquiescing on taking boozer.

Do I need to post the "Boozer S&T" teams?

Ok, Ok, I will.

Melo for 16, Bulls future 1st, Sac 1st, 32 billion 2nd round picks

Rose / Hinrich
Butler / Hairston (19) / Snell
Melo / Dunleavey
Gibson / Mirotic (part of MLE)
Noah / vet guy (part of MLE)

Melo has to opt out within 3 days and wants to close it up fast. I think he can give verbal commitment but not sign as soon as he opts out right?

Bandwagonners means you are good, I am fine with that. The 90's the Bulls had fans all over the country and europe + asia, doubt they were fans of the losing Bulls teams in the early 80s, or even fans of the rocking bulls of the 70s.

he has to opt out but i dont think he can say anything until july 1 (or atleast i dont think so lol) I think its cause he cant hear other team's pitches before then. by him not wanting to waste time, KC earlier said dont be surprised if he agrees to something july 1-5

With the news of DRose possibly having contact at Lebron, i hope that **** Calipari taught Derrick at least one skill of his.. and that is recruiting ability.

Well the reason for the disparity of opinion may stem from SAS speaking directly to Melo and or his camp to gauge their thinkng, whereas Shuster is hearing this from FO people.

If you combine the info to gether it looks like this:

-Melo wont give up huge $ unless its to go to a sure thing in terms of winning aka MIA (per SAS)
-Therefore Melo is most likely going to resign with NY, unless MIA pulls a rabbit (per SAS)

-Phil is willing/wants to deal Melo (per Shuster)
-Melo in turn would likely see getting his max deal from NY and then traded to CHI as a happy compromise between getting his money and being in a better, albeit not ideal/sure thing, winning situation (per me)

Thats all I got

I think the Bulls are a good compromise for both the Knicks and Melo in a S & T. Melo gets his money somewhat rather than signing for a few less million and the Knicks get picks to rebuild. IMO, Taj makes a big difference for Melo.

Melo needs a minimum of 2 to 3 big guys to protect him in the paint based on different match-ups. He just had Chandler in NY. He has seen the impact of Euro Stretch 4s(Bargnani) on defense and thus might prefer Taj to Mirotic, IMO.

It would be better for Phil to take Boozer because he can get the extra pick rather than somebody like Philly getting that pick for taking on Boozer.

I don't think Phil values Asik so much as to Asik being a piece of his rebuilding plans in 2015. We know Lin is not that valued. Asik gives them one less worry when they assemble players in the FA market in 2015/2016 and he can probably be resigned for a good price.
